Super fun, though i feel the same way others in the comments feel about controls. Also, it felt like the tricks gave too little score - stringing together 5 in a row gave barely anything to the meter in top left (if thats not the score then idk what the tricks do) , but hitting the little ramps gave a massive chunk, that felt a little off.
The scoring system was definitely made way too complex for the game (it relying largely on a streak system to multiply the score from tricks) so some playtesting definitely wouldโve caught more of that. Glad you had fun with it though!
Really liked the little details like the particle effects and the level transition that kinda reminds me of burrito bison!
It's a good game, but it would've been great if the controls handled a little better.
I probably should've spent less time on those tiny details and more on the actual controls in hindsight! Very happy you liked it though!
Lovely little game. Good sprites and felt great to play. The only criticisms I had have already been covered by others so I'll just say you should be proud and I hope to see it on stream. Rated!
Thank you! ๐ฟ๐๐ฟ๐๐ฟ๐๐ฟ
I think there's a lot I love about the concept that you have here. I love the side scrolling tony hawks-esque nature of the game and the multipliers. I just kept crashing because I was trying to accelerate and decelerate in the air. The visuals are clean and clear.
Thank you! I think some more playtesting wouldโve helped me realize just how tough the game could be with that control scheme, will do so next time!
Fun and pretty game. I especially like the smashing through the window effect between areas it's really cool. I wish I could move left and right in the air without doing tricks though, I kept crashing cos of it!
I'm actually really proud of the smashing through the window effect, so thank you for mentioning it! Mid-air movement sounds like such a good idea in hindsight T-T
Thank you for the submission!
Summary: Simple game, took a while to get used to movement input, but gives you plenty of runtime for the goal. It doesn't seem to respond well to backflipping, especially due to the key also being used to reduce speed, but overall sensible. Lovely sprites too!
Beautiful sprites done by Doodlebugdraws! I did give backflips the ability to slow you down a bit, but in hindsight, I probably should've done something different. Glad you liked it though!
My kudos to the Doodlebug! I could definitely see the reason and idea behind the backflip mechanic, but I think the main issue lies in the timing and momentum. It was difficult to pre-visualise when to do a trick in time without taking damage. But that's the glory of a GameJam; experimentation! Even if it didn't work out as well as it could, it was worth the attempt!
Nice small game (it was actually a bit small on my 4k monitor ๐) and great artworks especially on the game page ๐
I'll make sure to add some better fullscreen functionality next time! Glad you liked it!
