Quite difficult to tell which key to press when, and the tiled background doesnt really give you a sense of how fast you're going until you see a moon and realize youre either zooming wayyy too quick to catch it or going slow af, having some trees or something that could communicate speed is a suggestion. still, great idea, and a solid execution.
The controls are a little bit hard, I couldn't really tell when I could change between pressing z or x. But I can also just cross the grass and skip most of the race. Needs some fixing, but it was a nice idea!!
I wasn't sure about the pedaling mechanic but then I was about to catch up to the CPU and I GUNNED IT and it felt very satisfying. If the game was much longer I'd break my hand doing it but this was very fun as a short experience!
Agree that a starting countdown would be really helpful to the overall experience.
Very basic but cool cycling mechanic. I couldn't really play it properly due to the controls sadly.
I really like the pedalling mechanic! Great idea and execution :) Good job!
I really like the design of this. The Z/X pedalling definitely gives a cycling feel and it's a nice level of challenge handling both that and steering at the same time.
The pedal view at the bottom was a nice touch, adding an input guide (maybe a Z and X that alternately light up) might help make it even clearer and help out the player if they get muddled about which key to push next.
I like the concept as a rhythm-based racing game. Just a few minor things... Please add a countdown before the race begins and a pause button.
I liked the execution of the theme in this game. It is nice to keep “pedalling” while steering around.
I think fleshing this idea out would have potential :)
I wanted to do more (maybe multiple opponents, multiple bikes with different stats, more complex maps) but it took me until like the third day to get the pedalling mechanic to a point where I thought it was fun (I ended up making it way too complicated at first) so I barely had any time to do the rest of the game. Maybe I can flesh it out more after the jam is over.
was hard to coordinate at first but, as it was already mentioned, the zoomed in pedal view made things a lot easier to understand and coordinate.
A Rhythm game while steering, neat
Love the inclusion of the zoomed in pedaling view, it really clarified how the mechanic worked :D
Making the pedal view took a bit of effort but I knew I had to include it for people to understand how the pedal mechanic works.
