Very nice, well made game. I included it in my compilation video series of the Ludum dare 42 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look :)
This was a fantastic idea. Knowing that the whole "backwards attack flip-around" thing was there definitely helped!
I get what you're trying to do with the whole score-only, no-deaths thing, but I do think a lot of casual players would think they're doing fine by not dying, then wonder why they scored 1 point at the end. I can't help but wonder if a more traditional lives or shield-based system might teach players better where they're going wrong.
The smooth, minimalistic feel of the game kept me going! The game was very difficult, and as you can guess, I ended with 1 point left. If you curve out the difficulty or have a tutorial section to let the player know how to properly fight enemies, it will be a great game.
Hey! I just wanted to let you know that a video of one of my playthrough/reviews is up and you're a part of it!
Take a look here:
That was cool, once I realized it was all based on points and you couldn't die. I loved that you could trick enemies into shooting each other for point! I did terribly but I had fun. The timing seemed a little weird, but that could just be me =D A better music background would improve this imo.
Great work!
I didn't die.... but I should have... I got shot soooooo much. Interesting concept!
There is no death in this game, just a score attack :)
I love this game! it's fun and pretty innovative, it's hard to match the movement and the rhythm, but hey, I enjoy it!
Fantastic! I really like the fact that the music is not completely metronomic (whether this was intentional or not). And the mix of short-term timing with longer-term planning creates a really really good blend. 5*
The major beats are metronomic but I added some extra drum layers in between to spice things up (: thanks!
Very nice visuals! Even though the result in the current version sounds quite basic, I like that the music is procedurally generated - it fits the roguelike genre.
I wish the difficulty built up at a more gradual pace. I'd like to get used to dealing with enemies in 2-3 smaller levels with fewer enemies.
Easy enough to get the hang of, tricky enough to keep me playing. Very addictive!
The line-art graphics are nice, it feels polished and I'll play it again!
Satisfying and quite easy to get the hang of. The minimalist style is clean and suits the simplistic nature of the game. Nicely done.
I recorded a playthrough, check it out ~
Awesome game! Minimalistic art fits really well and the game itself feels juicy and polished. By the way, I can't reach more than 1 on score :(
I really like the minimalist art and a nice amount of juice. It is a good length, I just would have liked a slightly longer last level with the faster beat. At the start I thought I couldn't move if I had been shot but it was just that I was missing the beat. Nice job!
The concept is really cool, and it can leads to some great puzzles. The beat can be a little bit hard to follow sometimes though. And getting hit repeatedly is very easy. So far my best score was 13. But it's still enjoyable to play!
Really dig the artwork and crypt of necrodancer-like gameplay, but I feel like this might be quite difficult to balance as a roguelike with enemies that can shoot you from afar. The beat is also a little tricky to get right.
It's a good concept, it's just impossible to score more than one...
Haha, glad you enjoyed it! I'm going to try to record a full playthrough later :)
This is well executed but as you noted, incomplete. My first run I got stuck in a loop where i couldn't move or shoot due to the enemies hitting me but there as no restart button or game over screen so I had to reload.
That's odd, you should still be able to perform actions even when being hit by enemies? Will add a restart button soon, thanks for the feedback!
