Team Finding

Making a game all by yourself can be a daunting task. Joining a team helps make the workload manageable and connects you with other people who share the same interests. If you're looking to team up with other people for this jam, here's the place to do it! I know there's a lot of introducing going on, but bear with me a little longer!

Post to the thread with the information below. A sample post will be provided.
Once you've found a team, edit your post to show you're no longer available.

I am a [role(s)] looking for [role(s) or team]!

1. Introduction: Include any basic information you wish for people to know. I.e., Name, timezone, pronouns, etc. Or go all out and give your entire life philosophy; it's up to you!

2. Skills: Stuff you know how to do, or kind of know how to do. You can also add things you're willing to try.

3. Programs/Languages: Engines/Programs (for any use, be it art, music, game dev, animation, etc) and markup/programming languages you are familiar with.

4. Portfolio: Not terribly necessary, but it'd be a good idea to provide examples of things you've done. Don't sweat it if you're a complete beginner!

5. Contact: Ways to keep in touch. Instant messengers, slack, emails, etc.

6. Other: Anything else you think is important. Have an idea for a game? Stick it here. Have any specific expectations from your team? Stick them here. Anything goes!

Team Tips & Tricks

  • Communication is key! If you have concerns, frustrations, stress, other commitments, it is your responsibility to inform your team so they can help resolve the issue or accommodate. Most of these tips can probably be summarized as communication.
  • Can't do your part? Tell your team. If you have real life obligations, let your team members know so they can either lessen your work load or find someone else to help out.
  • Stay focused! Working together can be fun, but make sure you get things done! This is especially tricky for teams who know eachother well; sometimes the camaraderie can be a distraction.
  • Set clear, manageable goals. This helps everyone stay on the same page and facilitates productivity.
  • Dealing with stress/illness? Putting this one here for myself since I have this issue as well. If you have a history of health problems, whether it is physical or mental, please be up front about it. No one will blame you for needing to take it easy!
  • Use productivity apps/ file sharing sites! There's a plethora of resources for effective team/file management. Google Drive, Dropbox, Slack, and Trello are just a few of them. A list will soon be added here for anyone who wants to give them a whirl.
  • Again: file sharing. Mentioned in the point above, but important enough to warrant its own point. Using a file sharing service like Dropbox enables everyone to work on the same things at the same time as well as allow real-time updates. An artist can stick assets into a shared folder, thus allowing the programmer to instantly access it. Making changes is much easier too. Highly recommend teams do this!
  • Frustrated with your group? Nothing is perfect. Even with people you get along with, you're bound to have conflict. Keep a cool head and remember: even terrible game jam experiences have value. Be willing to carry on and don't give up!

  • I work without loop content, everything is hand-made by me
  • I use a variety of virtual instruments
  • Using professional Audio-Software, I am able to deliver different file formats, from WAV to OGG and (almost everything in between)

4. Portfolio:

Since I'm just starting out in the video game composing world, I have not that many references to pull up (I'm currently engaged by three groups of which one will start a Kickstarter in January), but nevertheless, here's my demoreel:

I'm on the GameJam discord @LeadGuit ! Just PM me and let's get going :-)

I am a Programmer looking for a team!

1. Introduction:

Hello! I'm "Will" from Canada (EST timezone). I am an impractical game developer whose always fails to complete a project without a drive to complete it... So far, the first My First Game Jam actually allowed me to complete a game... So I know I can do it again!

2. Skills:

Programming,

efficient and organized,

concept development - ideas and brainstorming,

Actual Computer Scientist... so I have tons of other computery skills.

3. Programs/Languages:

GameMaker: Studio,

RPGMaker,

RenPy,

I can try anything else.

4. Portfolio: My own itch.io has most of my stuff but there's a bit of stuff.

https://kymarai.itch.io/

Please note my most complete game is the last one.

http://kymarai.itch.io/there-was-never-going-back

5. Contact: Discorddddd ( Kymarai#1772 )

I am a Writer and sort of Programmer looking for a team with an artist, composer, and other programmers if possible

1. Introduction: Include any basic information you wish for people to know. I.e., Name, timezone, pronouns, etc. Or go all out and give your entire life philosophy; it's up to you!

You can call me Xian Xian or Li-Fei. My pronouns are she/her. I live in the U.S., so if you also live in the U.S. you don't need to worry about too much time zone issues, if you don't, I wake up at like 10:40AM and the latest I go to sleep is 3AM, but I'm trying to sleep before that. I am Multi-racial, Black-Puerto Rican and Chinese American, so I always have references to Chinese culture, use Spanish words here and there, have brown or dark skinned characters and Black hairstyles. (Although it isn't an utmost requirement if artists have a hard time with it, straightened hair doesn't erase African identity.)

2. Skills: Stuff you know how to do, or kind of know how to do. You can also add things you're willing to try.

Twine 2 and a little bit of CSS. Writing story and plot line. Finding pictures to use as reference I guess?

3. Programs/Languages: Engines/Programs (for any use, be it art, music, game dev, animation, etc) and markup/programming languages you are familiar with.

I am familiar with Twine which uses variables, if statements and macros. I also learned some basic CSS. But I would like to use Game Maker Studio which has somewhat similar coding.

4. Portfolio: Not terribly necessary, but it'd be a good idea to provide examples of things you've done. Don't sweat it if you're a complete beginner!

Uh. I have an itch.io and you can PM me for my current WIPs. My WIPs are going to be sent to Interactive Fiction competitions such as Spring Thing and IF Comp and the rules say I can't post actual working parts (html files) of my games in public places. Only on PM to beta testers, so I can also send it to you in PM if you would like a peek at more writing I do.

5. Contact: Ways to keep in touch. Instant messengers, slack, emails, etc.

You can PM me at Discord through the mfgj channel or I can invite you to some other Discord channel where we can talk privately as a team or email me at xianxianif@gmail.com.

6. Other: Anything else you think is important. Have an idea for a game? Stick it here. Have any specific expectations from your team? Stick them here. Anything goes.

I prefer a small team because I do get confused and overwhelmed easily. I'm big into story so I don't mind plot discussion especially since like most people I tend to have a hard time wrapping things up. Although the idea I have currently is quite simple. Girl wakes up with her brother missing, the island she lives on is in shambles, she soon finds there's a curse while searching for her brother, she must find safety.

I am a Jack of all trades teammate looking for a team!

Skills vary. I'm down to try out new things as well.

4. Portfolio:

5. Contact: Hit me up on Discord (Steven #4726) or you find me on Twitter (@Steevuhnn). Don't use any of those? contact me through Steam aswell

6. Other: I prefer smaller teams if possible.

1) I'm Yobob and I live on the westcoast!

2) I know how to write music and write interesting story but i'm willing to try drawing. That's a little hard for me.

3) I use a program called sibelius for my music notation. And I use RPG maker MV. I'm super good with it (I think).

4) I've finished a game called second chance. https://yobob.itch.io/second-chance

It's my first game that I made and I think it turned out very good.

5) You can contact me through this email. yobob123456789@yahoo.com (though I am hesitant in working with a team since i had abad experience with one)

Heyyy... I'm a programmer looking for a team!

1. Introduction: I'm Kostas, I live in Greece but the time zone is not a problem for me, I can crunch to death!!

2. Skills: Programming/Design/ Testing

3. Programs/Languages: Unity C#, C++, a little bit of HTML5, Android Studio.

4. About me: I love to connect with other fellow game developers, since in Greece there is not so much enthusiasm about Game Develop. Also I have great capacity for implementing and learning new things if the project needs to!

I am a programmer looking for a team!

1. Introduction: I'm Peter, pronouns are he/him, I live in the EST timezone. I have done a couple game jams before and I have always had a lot of fun. I love gamedev but don't usually have a lot of time to devote to it with work, etc. so this is a good excuse to finish a game!

2. Skills: Programming, especially for 2D games

3. Programs/Languages: I'm most comfortable using Unity (C#), Monogame (C#), or LÖVE (Lua), and I have done a little bit with Gamemaker Studio and Phaser (Javascript).

4. Portfolio: I have some assorted code projects on my Github, none of them are terribly extensive or well documented.

5. Contact: I am on Discord @peter #5645

6. Other: I prefer smaller teams, and I would love to work on a small, cute story based game. One idea I have is a 2D platformer - you play as someone who lives in the woods in a cabin, they live with dogs as pets and their dogs get away/get lost and you go exploring in the forest to find them and bring them back home. But I'm open to pretty much anything! Mainly I would love to work with someone who is good at/willing to try art because that is what I have struggled with most in the past.

Hello Agustin :D want to make team? but I am programmer :'D

I am an Audio Guy looking for a team!

1. Introduction: Hi, my name is Luca, but Everybody calls me Cyb. I am currently living in the Netherlands (GMT +1) and I love games. I am very passionate about what I do and my curiosity always brings me to discover and study new things. This is the main reason why I stepped into the gaming industry after several years of audio production, sound design and composition. This would be my first game jam since I have started this great adventure with sounds in games.

2. Skills: Deep knowledge of sound recording, editing and manipulation. I mainly work with Ableton 9 for production, Logic/Pro Tools for audio mixdown and editing and I have confidence with middleware such as FMOD Studio when it comes to coding audio and music.

3. Programs/Languages: Unity is my engine, have not that great experience with it but I consider it my favorite development environment. As an audio guy I use DAW softwares for music composition and sound design. Not yet a coder but able to use middleware to deliver audio builds rather than audio files.

4. Portfolio: you can check my music productions on Spotify under the name Cybernova or check soundcloud.com/cybernova for experiments/remixes and unreleased material. A portfolio for game audio is not yet available online but feel free to ask for sample stuff.

5. Contact: .facebook, skype, whatsapp, gmail. Easiest way: write me an email at cybnova@gmail.com

6. Other: currently studying Blender, so I can as well help out with basic 3D modeling. Also I am a great resource when it comes to organizing the workflow, preparing a GDD and getting fresh ideas during the concepting of the game

I am a Unity dev looking for a team!

Hi! I'm Jonathan, I've been learning Game design and Unity development for a little over 6 months.
I've already Made two complete games, the first of which was at the last instance of this jam! (Can be found here)
I've also designed and made a casual android game (which isn't online atm, I can provide an apk upon request)

I'm making another android game for this jam with an artist, but I'd love to get more experience working with other people, in particular other programmers and 3D artists. However, I'm planning on joining the Global Game Jam, and between that and the other game I'm working on I probably won't be too available towards the end of the jam. That being said, I'd love to team up and make a game!

P.S. My timezone is UTC+2

Skills / Programs:

* Unity2D/3D (more experienced in 2D development but I want to try more 3D stuff)

* C# programming (and a wee bit of Python)

* Game Design

* Good farmiliarity with high school level physics and math (Vectors, forces, graphs etc.)
