Really cool, especially for a solo project! The opening and ending  illustrations really added a lot to the game.
The gameplay was pretty good and responsive and the different themes for the levels were nice. I liked how forgiving the health system was up until the boss. The variety of enemies was great, as well.
The music definitely wasn't bad, but the loop did seem a bit short, especially during the boss, which maybe felt a bit long? The boss patterns were super fair though! I liked how clear they were, both having a clear rhythm for the player to get their own attacks in.

Overall, a solid platformer! Great stuff!

I'm still getting confident with music composition, and I should definitely start thinking about making longer tracks. I'm glad you liked them either way. And I do love drawing pixel art cutscenes!

Thanks for the feedback, will keep in mind for the future. And thank you for playing!

Hi ! I love the world that you created The rhymes where a nice adition cause it fits well the world. I felt the game like a storybook for kids, simple, straight foward and happy ending and that make this a great entry in my opinion, I had a lot of fun and I also enjoyed the story a lot and the world that you created. The artstyle and design were nice and fit the mood.

Did you did this alone? It's AMAZING (:

Developer

Thank you for playing my game!

I also liked going for the fable style and keeping it lighthearted for this one.

And thanks! I like working by myself, gives me the right space... and I can bring out some good stuff.

It was too easy ;) I never got killed.

Jokes aside. Very nice game! I absolutely love metroid-vania games (My fav game is Metroid so I'm biased) I loved the gameplay, dynamic, fast paced, very good enemies. (The skelletons always got me by surprise!) I was a little lost on the final boss as first I thought I needed to hit his tongue. But the damage animation gave me a clue on how to beat it. (I also never expected fireballs, NICE!).

The writting is very good. I wanted to see more when I finished it! This has the potential of having multiple levels with diferent weapons in a post-jam edition!

From the coding perspective, everything seemed polished and tested.

Good job! I hope to play more of your games in the future!

Developer

Thank you for playing, I'm glad you liked it so much!

I always test a lot the games I make by myself, so I'm glad it pays out when the players get it.

I think I'll come back to this to at least cleanup and upgrade where needed - not sure if I'll update it more, but it would definitely be cool to.

Thanks for the feedback!

Absolutely loved this game. It was such a simple game, but it was so effective. I think I like the music and the story splash art the most. The story art really got me into the game! The platformer style gameplay was really fun, but I think the inputs could be more clear. Maybe use Spacebar for jump instead of left click. Had lots of fun!

Developer

Thank you for playing! I had lots of fun doing the splash art, definitely.

And good idea for the input - not everyone is used to the same input type, so more options could be helpful.

Thanks again for the feedback!

A lot of fun, and I enjoyed the old school feel to this one. The music was a bit repetitive but it had such a good groove that I didn't care. The skeletons really kicked my butt a few times. Overall I enjoyed my time playing. Great work!

Thank you! Still rather new to music composing, but I'm glad you enjoyed it.

And thanks for playing!

first of all THANK YOU! - for binding jump and attack on mouse buttons, such a small thing and almost noone does it. One notion though, i think jump on right button and attack on left would work better.

Game aesthetics felt well put together but levels themselves were imbalanced, trough all 3 levels there was only 2 places where i had to stop and kill enemies, ran trough them very fast - well placed enemies that block the way would solve that. Controls were quite clunky. Skeletons felt and looked like after a while they would ressurect (just gamer gut) and when they didn't it felt off (almost dissapointing) for me.  There's a fine line between hard boss and frustrating boss and this one was definitely the latter - didn't enjoyed bossfight at all.

All in all game felt like more or less well put together even if it felt rubberbanded here and there at times - good job with that.

Thank you for playing! And thanks for the feedback.

Yeah, I worked as much as I can on level design but in the end there's plenty of spots you can just avoid enemies instead of fighting.

And I will remember to switch around the mouse controls: one of my first times applying them but I'm glad they are appreciated!

Thank you again for letting me know what could be improved, I appreciate it. And thanks for playing, again!

I thought it was a bit unclear when the boss was taking damage. Great game though, I had a lot of fun playing it!

Developer

Yeah, more of an indicator for the boss could be an idea.

Thank you for playing!
