Was having a pretty good time but unfortunately had a crash around the time Grandpa starts talking about his shipmates dying in battle. Dialog started doubling up and then it suddenly closed.  I tried re-creating the crash but was unable too, second playthrough went fine.

I was actually pretty interested in the possible mechanics of a navel battle game set on a board like this. I can see how the idea of advancing the story based on gameplay would have fit in nicely here. I don't believe I have any constructive criticisms that others have not shared, or that you're not already aware of.

Overall pretty good experience.

Darn. Yeah, I've had a crash once there before too. I think it has to do with timing of dialog being triggered at similar times. Glad you got the second playthrough though, thanks for sticking around for it.

Thanks for playing!

We really liked the story and the build up!  The gameplay felt a little lackluster, though, when it actually came to the board game it felt like most of the time the optimal move was to just pass your turn until you could hit something. Sometimes advancing made the story text not show up which felt super disappointing. :<

That said, the concept and the story were really cool and intriguing. Definitely the highlight!

I appreciate the honest feedback. Yeah… originally, the idea was to have the board game determine how the story play out. But the story was pretty static given the time constraint. Hope to make the board game more combined with the story. Thank you for playing!

I love the concept of how the story unfolds, with a girl and her grandfather talking while playing together. I would have liked if the actions you take in the board game had more of an effect on the story. I also had a weird graphical glitch where sometimes multiple lines of dialogue would write at the same time, making them impossible to read.

But overall, I think the writing is solid, the story is compelling, and the format is unique. Great work!

that’s exactly how I wanted it originally - Where the actions in the game impact how the story plays out. I just ran out of time!

I’ll have to fix that graphical glitch. I hope you had fun :)

Oh, what a lovely game this is!

The visuals of the board game are quite cute, with the pieces bobbing up and down. A cool idea to keep the player absorbed in a task while the story unfolds... even if the board game itself seems a bit unbalanced?

The story really takes the cake: it builds up slowly, and the dialogue is written well - the twist RIGHT before the end was really exciting! The dialogue with the sounds of storm at sea playing this board game gave it a very good, properly spooky mood.

On a more technical note, a few issues of the build itself is that it can be difficult to actually start up

And the game keeps switching back and forth between fullscreen and windowed every time the board reloads.

Just to keep in mind, in case you wanna fix these in the future.

A very solid entry nonetheless, great job on it!

I appreciate that KaaSnake! You made me super happy that you got through the story. Thanks for playing. Def will fix those parts you mentioned.
