Does your game contain AI-generated content?
None.

How does your game fit/incorporate the theme of the game jam?
The game's story is based on the idea of cherishing a good memory amidst countless bad ones. These memories are remnants of the past, used to forge ahead to a better future.

I’m not sure I can beat this game with just a trackpad lmao. Will try again with a mouse after the voting phase but so far, I’m intrigued in the story and I read in the comment the mention of a Stage 4. 4 stages and maybe more in 3 days is A LOT. Visuals and OST is really good too. Something I really don’t like however is the fact we come back to the previous level when losing. If it’s not a bug, I can see the concept but I’m really not a fan of it

This game isn't easy — or at least, it's a fair bit harder than I first realized. The loss of progress upon defeat is indeed a design choice meant to keep the stakes high, but I can see how it could be frustrating. I've sprinkled a few easier substages here and there for that reason, but Stage 4 has a few mean ones in there. Either way, I'm glad you enjoyed the sights and sounds regardless!

Oh, and trying to beat this game on a trackpad would border on masochism, so I definitely recommend trying again later with a mouse!

I haven't finished yet but from the little I played, THIS IS SO GOOD! Please release the ost, they are such bangers, and the visual effects are so cool, I really love this.

I'm glad you like it so far! I've made the soundtrack available here:

The game is good and I like the narrative but tbh the light strobing effects were too much for my eyes and I don't have good enough manual dexterity for these types of games

Developer

Thanks for giving it a try! The game is indeed a bit intense, so I completely understand.

Stage 4-5 literally impossible? There are stages before that are demandingly precise, but on 4-5 I'm not even coming close... Otherwise, this is fantastic

Developer

It certainly is one of the tougher ones, quick and measured — probably the second most difficult substage in the game after 4-12's serpentine path in my experience. Glad you enjoyed the rest, though!

This is simply a masterpiece. I am still crying due to the history.
I'm still questioning how on earth you did such pollished and awesome game in less than 3 days.

I simply loved it. I have no words...
Thank you for making it. You really cooked hard.

Developer

This is high praise! To answer your question — I have a ton of experience in retro game development, and I use a game engine of my own making so my tools don't fight back. That my game resonated with you so deeply is more than I could have hoped for, though! Thank you for playing!

Impeccable music taste (I still can't get that rises the moon duet out of my head). Love how you incorporated it into the gameplay. Very stylish presentation too.

Developer

Glad to hear that you enjoyed the soundtrack! It certainly was a challenge to make.

Classic concept with fun new ideas, huge jams, and absolutely immaculate vibes. I think it might be physically impossible for me to beat some of the later timed stages right now, which makes me unreasonably upset since I want to see the ending. Will definitely try again after a nap. Would not be even slightly surprised to see this in the top ten, great job

Thank you for playing, and for the kind words! I would happily settle with top 100. Sorry about the difficulty — Stage 4 can be particularly mean. Don't hesitate to use the pause feature to reset a substage when running short on time. I hope the ending makes it worth the trouble!

I was stuck at the slalom course in stage 4 for the longest time but I finally struggled through. 100% worth it, my favorite experience of the jam so far, thank you

Developer(+1)

Congratulations! I know the one — that exact substage filtered me during playtesting as well, but I decided to let the players feel some of Evil's pain.  Glad you enjoyed it and got to see the ending!

Breakes rule "Games must work without any other third party software installed or enabled"
Requires Java Runtime Enviroment 1.8.0

Jam HostSubmitted

JRE is pretty common to have, I’d treat it as an exception

Submitted

Do I really have to install java 1.8?

Developer

Sorry about that! Unfortunately, Java requires the Java runtime, just like C# requires the .NET runtime. It looks like you have an SDK installed (for developers), not a JRE (for users). Java 1.8 (aka Java 8) can be found on the official website: https://www.java.com

Submitted(+1)

I'll take the trouble to download JDK 1.8 if you take the trouble to play my game. Sounds like a good deal, doesn't it?

Developer

Fair enough! And remember, it's the JRE you need (the green "Download Java" button on the website), not the JDK. Best of luck to you!

I'm sorry, my friend, it didn't work. I updated the Intel drivers to see if it would fix the issue, but it didn't. I'm sending you the error below:

That's unfortunate! It looks like the JVM itself is crashing — this usually happens when trying to run software using OpenJDK instead of the normal JRE, so I'm not sure what the problem could be here. Well, thanks for trying!
