Great job submitting a game! I really love the opening. Being prompted to press E, not understanding what's going on, then the moment it clicks it creates a need to explore. Large collision boxes make movement a little annoying. This game is reminiscent of the game Minute, which I love. The depleting battery creates a sense of urgency and purpose in the player movements like how Minute does with the 60 second time limit. I would have liked E to also skip dialogue, I was often done much faster than the indicator. There was one issue with visual clarity where I thought the log was a river. Adding sound would make this a great complete experience. Also wanted to mention that you had great foresight to have the solar panel serve two purposes of both charging and saving, its very intuitive. Thanks for participating!

Thank you for playing and taking the time to leave feedback.

I'm glad you enjoyed the game and presentation. Minit was an inspiration that came up early in the jam, so I'm very happy it shows a little.

As for the Solar Panel, that unfortunately didn't come until my update after the jam and judging ended. I wish I thought of it sooner.

I plan on joining the next nokia jam, whenever it comes up. Thanks!

Neat idea! I included it in my Nokia 3310 Jam 4 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :)

I like the hand-crafted environment and enjoyed exploring it. The story made me curious and inspired me to play to the end! It took me about 5 attempts.

Developer

I'm glad you enjoyed it and made it to the end!
Thank you for playing and for your feedback.

Heh- nice little adventure :)

I found the battery life was (maybe too?) punishing, though. Mostly I got into a loop of dying just as I figured out what I was supposed to do next, and then having to replay all the way back.

Thanks for playing!
I have implemented a checkpoint system that's ready to upload as soon as judging is over.

Also gave the player a tiny bit more out of their battery.

I really like the main sprite design and animations in particular,  I feel they are a really cool way of giving the player just enough information to get direction and motion state with such a tight restriction on number of pixels.

thank you! Most of my time was spent on that

I Don't Really Understand What The Point Of The Game Is But I Feel As The Battery Is Too Low. I Don't Really Get Anytime To Explore

Developer

I understand. Once the judging is over I’ll push an update to the game to make it a little less punishing.

What I saw was pretty cool, but I can't reach the end. I got the axe and I presume it's supposed it's to cut down trees or something but I can't get it to do anything. Please let me know if I'm missing something so I can revisit the game and complete it.

That aside, the lighting effect is pretty cool, and I like how the battery meter is represented with an actual Nokia style battery meter. I wish there was a way to skip through text faster though.

Developer

working on a checkpoint system to fix some issues

thank You for playing and the feedback!

Was I missing something with the axe, or does it just not work in the current version of the game?

Developer(+1)

There's a down log near where you find the flashlight that can be cut to create a path.

Okay thanks, I managed to complete it now. Pretty cool game overall. Having an ending cutscene is a nice touch!

Developer

Thanks! i'm glad you enjoyed it.

A nice little exploration game.

Sometimes the hitboxes seem a bit weird. There are a few places where I thought for sure I could go but was blocked.

But it was fun finding the way forward.

Developer(+1)

thanks for playing.

I’m working on an update to fix some of the collisions/ make some clearer.

I like the lighting in the cave! I only got to the lake though. It would benefit from diagonal movement I think, zig-zagging around obstacles is a bit slow. The robot and environment art was good!

Developer

thank you!
