This game just reeks polish. Detailed race-track, good menu system (heck, there are even links to all the artists), surprisingly well-done camera with tilt/motion blur (if a little bit too much tilt; and the little "intro" to the track, that's great).

It's pretty fun soaring around-- it feels like the grapple in Xonotic, somewhat. Really, really solid base you have here! With just a bit of tinkering, this'd be excellent. (And judging by a greyed out "multiplayer," you have some cool ambitions, I look forward to it. Or maybe that's just a placeholder, haha)

Developer

Thanks so much, glad you enjoyed it! The grayed-out menu options are in fact ambitions. Stay tuned for v0.2 in the next week or two!

Thanks for playing! Yes, there are some graphical artifacts I didn’t have time to investigate, that’s not just you. I considered locking the player’s rotation to prevent you from flipping upside down, but I did find the tilting kinda fun so I let it in.

It works now! And wow, how amazing. Takes some practice to get airborne and stay there, but really really fun. Kind of reminded me of some of the minigames in Saints Row 4, in a way.

Good polish on this game and the mechanic is interesting and nicely done. I think it should have been more of something to add a to a classic jetpack control because I didn't feel I was going as fast as the music was expecting me to go :) I managed to get a boost once though :)

The graphics, menus and music make me think wipeout albeit a tad darker. It's quite a nice thing.

Developer

Thanks! There was supposed to be a jetpack (hence the name), but I didn’t finish!

One of the bests game of the jam hands down. Graphisms are really cool, the concept is simple yet fun. Just wish the controls were indicated when launching the game because I was a bit confused at first.

I think there is a solid core game here.  A few things that I think would help improve it would be a more stable camera. Sometimes I would smack a wall and become completely disoriented. Additionally, I think the cursor need some way to indicate the surface is to far away. I definitely look forward to seeing this fleshed out more!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! The cursor turns gray when the target is out of range, but I agree it isn’t the most clear.

Oh, I might have not noticed it because I use F.lux to help sleep. It wrecks my ability to distinguish colors on my screen.

Hard to get the hang of, but some GREAT BONES here!  Good job!

It took me quite a while to figure out what to do and even longer to figure out how to do it properly.I often found myself stuck in a spot where I had no obvious way to get ahead, and all I could do is move backwards and take another swing.

I think you got a really cool concept here with the potential to become a great game. But what it needs is a tutorial and a more beginner-friendly first stage.

Developer

Thanks, totally agree! I also planned to add a jetpack for smaller course-corrections, which would help avoid those situations where you get stuck.

I got a segfault just before the time trial starts. I filed an issue on Gitlab for you.

Looked great up to that point, though!

Developer(+1)

Oh no! Thanks for trying it. I responded to the Gitlab issue. I’ve also uploaded a linux debug build you could try (maybe start it with gdb this time?)

This was helpful! Spacebar (and WASD) were hooked up to a jetpack that I never finished implementing. I’m uploading a 0.1.1 version with this fixed now.

As far as missing assets in your clone, the repo uses git-lfs to manage assets. It looks like it is in the ubuntu 20 repos. If the issue was something other than LFS though, let me know. There shouldn’t be any assets missing!
