Description
For this soundtrack we drew great inspiration from Rayman 2 and the way it uses its leit motiv and variations of it in almost all of its tracks.

We imagined a game taking place in a magical world where the Seasons have been locked away and color drained away.

Our protagnist, Sophie, meets a sun-shaped elf and together they set out on an adventure to free the Seasons.

The soundtrack closely follows the story as it unfolds (you can read what happens in the tracks descriptions on Soundcloud), taking place in each environment drawn in the artwork.

Picture theme

How does it fit the theme?
The soundtrack is heavily based on the artwork and our protagonists are the girl and the smiling creature in the top left, that we refer to as the sun-shaped elf. We took each section depicting a different environment and based the soundtrack and story on it. On Soundcloud you can clearly see what section each track takes place in.

This was a fun ride! I am a total softy for upbeat and nostalgic adventurous melodies. The Adventure
Begins and and Through the Forest had me itching to jump back on my PS1. Love your source reference of Rayman 2 and push for leit motifs! Everything went really well together and kept me engaged. Nice job guys :)

Okay :
Your composition and orchestration chops are shaaaaaaaarp !
you really know your stuff, you know how to be delicate and create ambiance, you went modal which makes you kind of an exception here.
And i think you made that with only LABS instruments which is awesome and demonstrate that compositional chops are the most powerful tool !

Really the only negative i have is the strings
unfortunately they are not really programmed that well and if it's the LABS strings i think the instrument itself doesn't reach the quality necessary to fit in your musical vision for this ost.

Now i want to stress that :  it's not your fault that you don't have the SUPER UBER strings library of our collective dreams because : those things cost a lot of money to buy them and time to learn how to use them...

But i think in order to serve the production quality, making the choice to ditch the strings for another instruments that could fill their shoes could have been better

Except for that instrument, it's beautifully composed and arranged and i wouldn't be surprised if that was an ost for an actual game in the near future ^^

Thank you very much for your feedback and yes, you are perfectly right about strings ( from Spitfire Labs), I love strings but unfortunately they are so far from the quality of my dreams! I resisted using theme more and I also thought that stereo strings of my digital keyboard would have been almost better!!! Lol :-)

I totally understand the urge to put strings everywhere x)

I have the intimate strings on my stuff, they are from spitfire too and they are really cheap
you can also peruse pianobook.co.uk for loads of free stuff ^^

This was a nice listen! I like the ambience in Lost in the Desert and Diving Deep to the Bottom of the Sea

Fun and enjoyable! The kind of soft orchestration def creates that fairytale feel; my favorite might be 'The Worms' Camp'

Great work: I think the instrumentation of woodwinds and harp really captures the mood you are going for. I really liked the texture you have created, everything has a very lush and dreamy ethereal sort of sound.

This was great! I really enjoyed your interpolation of melodies, like using parts of "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" in "Searching for the Light." I enjoyed it a lot!
