Description
Soundtrack for the fictional Bullet Hell STG "Chainlink - MAX POWER", a game about a world inhabited solely by spaceships, in which you must escape the Intergalactic International High Security Prison Megacomplex.
The soundtrack has elements of electronic, breakcore, with a hint of baroque and classical style melodies to signify the ruling class.
DAW used - FL Studio 20
Song-by-song breakdown -
"The Imp's Reason" - Title Screen
Chained to the wall, unable to move, you're stuck in a prison cell plotting your way out.
"Sole Insurrectionist" - Stage 1
The theme of the prison escape, halfway through you get stopped by the Chief of Security, but after defeating him he flies through the wall to reveal a way out, a glimmer of hope that will be quickly snuffed out.
"Trick Smasher" - Boss Battle
The general boss theme, meant to portray the feeling of being absolutely outgunned, and making their weaknesses your strengths. They may be big, but you have all the maneuverability
"Backstreet Burners" - Stage 2
After escaping the prison complex, you reach the interstellar capital. Meant to portray the feeling of being in a culture you don't know, not knowing where to go, and a general suspicion that everyone might be working against you.
"Ultrasensory" - Stage 3
Making your way through the winding streets of the city, you make it to the "Facility of Ultimate Power". The enemies are here are no longer the cops, nor the prison security, but the automated security of the facility itself. The realization that with the ultimate power you can destroy the oppressive regime.
"Ultrasensory [Meltdown Mix]" - Stage 4
Turns out, the ultimate power was also what was keeping the facility in tact. Make your way out without bumping into any of the falling apart pieces of metal and concrete! But what's waiting for you outside might not be pleasant.
"Backstreet Burners [Lockdown Mix]" - Stage 5
You've been deemed a high class threat, the entrance to the facility has also been surrounded. You can no longer hide and linger in the backstreets, fight your way through back to the prison complex to destroy it once and for all.
"Sole Insurrectionist [Confrontation Mix]" - Stage 6
At the entrance to the complex, their last resort, their biggest mech blocks your way. It's no match for you anymore. The inside of the prison is empty of all security except for the mindless battle mechs, the giant mech you destroyed at the entrance returns, but to no avail. You take a final turn to the office quarters instead, slowly making your way to the office of the head honcho.
"Trickle-Down" - Final Boss
The showdown between you and The President begins. There is nothing more to say.
Each of the stage tracks has an intermission segment during which there would be a timed midboss as well.
Message from the artist:
Hi! :)
Theme:
How does it fit the theme?
Stage 1 is directly about you running away from the prison complex
Stage 3 is directly about you running away from the imminent meltdown
and in stage 6 the security of the prison is running away from you.
In the first 3 stages, there's an overarching theme of you running away from the regime, whereas in the last 3 stages there's an overarching theme of the regime beginning to fear and run from you instead.
Running away, of course is figurative, as you're actually flying because you're a spaceship.

Really energetic. I love the organ part in Trickle Down. Thanks for sharing!
Yours is one of the most unique submissions! Many, including me, decided to go orchestral, but with you using breakcore with that type of game idea, it truly gives a breath of fresh air.
I would totally play this game if it existed.
The game premise and track are both brimming with energy and ideas, which is refreshing to hear as a counterpoint to many slow-paced (and sometimes a little overwrought) orchestral ballads. You've got the frantic electronic sound for your soundtrack to a T. Amazing work.
The Amen Break is such a good idea of a sample to use with this theme, had a lot of cool chops and you grabbed a lot of techniques from a lot of genres and it still sounded very cohesive. Great job!
I would play this game and listen to these jams all day. As the young people say, this slaps.
Super cool and creative that you made remixes of your own songs in the submission! Your use of sample chopping was really well done and it was cool seeing a breakcore entry. My favorite track was Backstreet Burners
Really creative stuff! Love the hard drums and bass. Favorite track has to be Sole Insurrectionist for sure!
The breakcore music in Stages 1, 4, and boss battle really capture that runaway vibe! Love how fast-paced,adrenaline-inducing and clean this is for the overall project is. Amazing work!
the [Mix] songs are actually so sick
Sounds interesting
Great job! I really loved the whole project! Ultrasensory was probably my favorite!
I think you captured exactly what you were going for, I like motifs you developed and the onomatopoeic sounds. Great work!
