Description
Set in a dark cyberpunk world controlled by a neon infused pantheon of norse gods, you play as a half light and half dark elf who since birth has been imprisoned in a corrupted forest connected to Yggdrasil(the world tree). You have to escape to find out why the gods have imprisoned you, and why your mixed magical heritage is such a danger to the world.

Gameplay is a measured, strategic and intense souls-like with an emphasis on evading the attacks of the insanely powerful gods you face until they get bored and leave you alone.

Soundtrack is an intense combination of classical instruments and synths, with a distinctly different feel for each boss encounter and area. Most tracks are loopable or run once for the length of the boss battle till they leave

Theme:

Runaway
Picture theme

How does it fit the theme?

This was really consistently dark and menacing with glimmers of light in appropriate intervals. Great feel for the kind of game you describe.  Loki's theme is really quirky in a way, I love it.  That piano part in Odin's theme was also really epic. Nice job!

Very cool! I enjoyed your consistent use of extremely dark and heavy ambience; it really gets me in the mood for a Souls-type game in this cyberpunk setting.

My favorite selection is "Odin." It has a tangible sense of finality to the soundtrack and game concept. And the piano part is just so excellent. It does suddenly cut off, though. Is that intentional? Or was it maybe an exporting issue? I was jamming!

Overall, the soundtrack is strong and sets the scenes well. Nice work!

P.S.: This isn't advice, it's just a thought I had: the bass line in Ratatoskr's Squirrelshop sounds like it would be absolutely perfect if played on an electric bass. I can hear the slaps already! 😂 It would almost definitely come across more goofy, though. Love it either way!

Wow so many of the tracks sound so menacing! Especially Fenris Wolf and Hel.

A long listen but very enjoyable! I couldn't help but take a lot of notes, it was hard to synthesize (pun intended).

Track 1. Somber, faded glory. Solid title music.

Track 2. love the way the synth hits you immediately. Melody notes are a bit chaotic, fitting of Loki. I wished the song would develop structurally as the song went on; the bassline repeated for the entirety of the song.

Track 3 feels like I am sneaking around, trying to avoid being sniffed out by Fenris. It is very suspenseful. I liked it in spite of the length.

Track 4. The beginning is like a town in borderlands. Desolate, in a good way, but I had a hard time feeling like it correlated to being attacked by a god. This one felt more like Thor was on your side and this was a safe place to hang out.

Track 5. A welcome respite from the somber intensity of the previous two tracks! I liked that you kept the instrumentation in line with the other tracks despite the levity.

Track 6. Another light-hearted track. The piano here sounds a little too happy for being about someone who tried to kill me! I like the composition but felt the instrumentation was not consistent with the rest of the soundtrack.

Track 7. This track was a great transition back to intensity. Possibly my favorite track.

Track 8. This felt like a slow evasion through an empty cathedral. Good intense vibes. I could see it having more intense instrumentation for a different feel (pounding drums?)

Track 9. I loved the build up around 2:30 here! Things got really spicy right at the end but the song just cuts off.

Title - Quite a pensive opening. I guess nights are long in the North. It's good music and an interesting choice for an opening. I can imagine it builds contrast to roll into the higher energy level of the rest of the soundtrack.

Loki Foe - Cool! I quite like the feel of this one. Like that trancey high frequency arp.

Fenris Wolf - I quite like the sound design in this one. Like those swells especially near the end.

Thor - This is probably my favourite. I love the vocal-esque risers in this one. Definitely creates a sense of dread.

Ratatoskr's Squirrelshop - I quite like those fast paced mechanical sounds in this one. It sounds like a very tightly bandpassed beat or something of the like. Adds a nice pace.

Loki Friend - Neat. The juxtaposition between the piano and vocals is interesting. It creates a bit of a mysterious feel.

Ginnungagap - Seems like we're in some otherworldly realm now.

Hel - I feel this is where the game really starts getting serious. We've started ramping up for a boss or something of the like. I really like some of the double tones here. The dark humming under the strings. It's quite evocative. I think this is my second favorite. Definitely feels dark and foreboding.

Fimbulwinter - Sounds like we're gonna get a moment of respite before the big bad hits us. Nice! I can imagine stocking up on some things needed for the final fight while this theme runs.

Odin - I like how this one builds up to a big crescendo.

Impressed by just how many tracks you made in such a short time. I like that the soundtrack moves through various stages and that you gave the theme for each God its own character.

Definitely evocative tracks that go along with a game premise that I'm now hanging out to play. Really competently put together and performed.

Neat idea! Loki Foe is the standout for me. More cyberpunk please!

I like the atmosphere your music creates! Definitely cyberpunk vibes, very dark and tense! Also, I liked the scratchy textures in Thor, it seems like something that shouldn't work but it was great!

This is a super cool take on the theme! I would have loved to see a bit more of the cyberpunk inspiration shine through, but the parts that combined orchestral and synth instruments were well executed
