Description
finally i made more than 1 track for a jam, truly incredible
originally i was gonna have this be a more electronic style (reminiscent of celeste) and i even made 1 song in that style but in the end i decided to make it have a more acoustic sound, whatever u call this style
i made everything in fl studio 20 and most of the instruments in here r free stuff from spitfire labs lmao. and then a few instruments from pianobook (great website, insane amounts of free stuff).
my very vague idea for the game is that u play as a mysterious young traveler that is on a journey to save their little brother from a strange curse. they stumble upon a mysteriously alluring valley and is told by locals who reside in a small village at the top of a mountain overlooking it that it's supposedly enchanted. despite multiple warnings of the unknown dangers that lie blow, the young traveler decides to venture into the valley below, seeking both a cure and adventure.
each track matches something the traveler finds in the valley
track 1 - a peaceful, enchanted rock garden home to many creatures that seems to be something left behind by a long lost civilization
track 2 - an almost empty town beneath a large cliff home to only a few old residents that welcome you as a rare visitor and allow you to temporarily take shelter in one of the many empty houses there
track 3 - descending further into the valley, the traveler finds an increasing number of corpses, skeletons, and other remains of both humans other creatures. the traveler soon realizes that the magical phenomena of the valley seem to be connected to these deaths
track 4 - the traveler comes upon a dark cave that leads to the entrance of an underground palace and comes face to face with a giant humanoid creature wearing a torn up and bloodied king's robe
tl;dr traveler with cursed brother finds magic valley with weird things in it
hope u enjoy
Message from the artist:
pretend the trees in the cover art is green lmao
Theme:
How does it fit the theme?
when making the tracks, i had the image theme in mind and tried to make the music fitting to the world that i imagined based on the picture.

Very well put together. I love those plucky instruments that sound so happy in contrast with the menacing strings. nice job!

the overgrown rock garden - This sounds great. It is such a gentle song. Like a breeze. I am really impressed how you are able to captivate such a gentle mood while keeping it constantly interesting and evolving.
the hidden town beneath the cliffs - Again, a beautiful song that meanders beautifully.
the massacre of innocence - Definitely leaning into a darker tone here. This track doesn't make me feel like the massacre is happening right now, but rather that we have stumbled upon its consequences. It drew me in right from the get go and makes me feel very uneasy.
authority of the crestfallen king - The dissonance in this feels extremely ominous. The finale felt shocking.
This was a great and very evocative work. It was a very dark experience. Quite relentless. Very well done.
thank you! and for the massacre of innocence that is what i was going for. it's supposed to kinda feel like u just found clues to a dark secret or something. glad u enjoyed the tracks
I absolutely love this. You have such a nice tone throughout, the instrument choices are great, I especially love the harmonica that comes in on the second track. Authority of the Crestfallen King reminds me of the Demon’s Souls soundtrack. My favorite tracks are definitely The Hidden Town Beneath the Cliffs and Massacre of Innocence
thanks!
Love how it starts off so bright and progressively gets darker. Favorite had to be the 4th track, very powerful!

These tracks do something peculiar that I have not heard very often. There is constant motion, yet the listener is standing very still. Particularly with Authority of the Crestfallen King, where the whole track feels like just one note that seems to change slowly.
Do you by any chance like listening to Philip Glass or Steve Reich?
thanks for listening! that is an interesting way of describing it, i think its kinda what i was going for in authority of the crestfallen king, so im glad it worked
and no ive never heard of those 2
They are known for minimalistic music, and use things like short repetitive phrases that slowly change over the course of the song. I think you would like them: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Stu7h7Qup8
cool thanks
I'm really enjoying massacre of the innocence - really cool use of aleatoric effects!
thanks! [idk what aleatoric effects mean tho :)))]
Nice soundtrack! I enjoyed your story and the music, especially the enchanted rock garden. Great work!
ty!
Track 1: these are beautiful, delicate harmonies. excellent job picking out the instruments for this track. you've done a great job of painting the image of little rock people in my mind :)
Track 2: this track sounds similar to the first, and i really love this harmonic world you're creating-- consistency is pretty key with a soundtrack. this track has a greater feeling of emptiness and weakness, which again fits your story so well. i wanna use these sound libraries so badddd they are so cool :0 gotta check out spitfire labs
Track 3: i love a tone shift... and when i tell you it started thundering outside right as this track came on (spookey) these eerie swells still have that janky-in-a-cool-indie-way feel like the rest of the soundtrack, but are also a massive shift from what we've heard so far.
Track 4: this is a beautifully cinematic way to end the soundtrack, and ending it on a dominant chord was great!
you are in your niche and doing great-- I have very little advice to offer you, other than to avoid getting locked into repeating the same four chords over and over, which only really happened in track 1. otherwise... bravo!!!
tysm! and yea ur right abt the chord thing lol i gotta get better at adding more variety in the chords
and u should totally check out spitfire labs and piano book, theyre both completely free and have great sounds
I will definitely give them a look :)
