The title of the original song(s)
Mainly inspired by the following songs: The Last of Us, The Path, The Choice and The Smugglers, from the soundtrack of The Last of Us.

Is this a cover, tribute, or medley?

Medley

Description
The Last of Us is one of these games that really touched me. From the overall immersive experience to the relation between Joel and Ellie who find in the other what they were missing, this game will forever be engraved in my memory. And the music tells the exact same story, with dissonant element entangled with beautiful and pure melodies, in a soundtrack that always drives you forward.

-------------------------

I tried to make a medley, inspired by the main melodies and the general atmosphere of the game, that would reflect this journey.

You can look at this track as three consecutive parts:

1. The strings and the guitar set the tone for what's to come: they are mainly here to slowly build the atmosphere the rest of the music will be based on. The dissonant element in the background warn you: the danger lurks around.

2. The tempo slows and the warm bass guitar reassures you: everything should be fine from now on

3. But then the tempo rises up again and the more rhythmic patterns start to kick in. The danger is still around, but you're moving forward: you're determined. A distant voices accompanies you in your path...

Hopefully I managed to transcribe my feelings for this game through this song.
I hope you enjoy it!

-------------------------

As for the technical part, this track was made using Logic Pro X and mainly on midi.
For my libraries, I used almost the entirety of Spitfire Labs Guitares and Strings, Albion One for the Orchestra instruments and Damage for the percussions. I unfortunately didn't have my guitar with me so I couldn't record the guitar melodies. I had to manage with my libraries to emulate the guitar sound as best as I could !

I also had the help of 2 friends. One that I recorded playing the guitar chords, and the other for the singing. The recordings were made with my crappy phone mic, and I know the next thing I invest in will be a proper microphone!

I had a lot of fun making this track and working on one of my dearest soundtrack. Each project teaches me a lot, and this one was by far the one I learned the most from. I can't wait for the next OstJam!

Thanks! I wish I had more time to work those out as it was recorded at the last minute. But it still was fun to play around with live recordings for the first time :)

I do love the feeling you've managed to capture from 3:00 onwards, the building section into the final vocals really hits home. Great job overall.

If you hadn't said that the vocals were recorded on a phone, i wouldn't have noticed. Everything blends together nicely, great job!

Developer

Thanks a lot! I'm using Nectar3 to mix the vocals and this tool is a damn magic wand ^^

This was a wild ride. Love the scene descriptions and even more so the music that takes your there. Favorite part was when the song gave way to the vocals at the end and you feel like you can finally breathe. Good stuff.

What an amazing journey. From the way the tracks combine, to the instrumentation and to that voice, everything had feeling. I love Santaolalla's work and you made it justice :)

Great job! I haven't read the description at the first listening, I thought that was all live recorded instrument, nice done!

Developer

Thanks! It took lot of effort to get the guitar to sound natural, and I'm pretty satisfied with the result :)

Nicely done. You really captured the tension, unstable comfort, and danger.
