Description
Hello!
This is my very first jam, I'm really happy to share this track with you!
I tried to cover Sky Burial, from the game Shadow of the Colossus, in a different style,
something like electro, downtempo, very slow track. 3.14 minute, made in Cubase, mostly
with Kontakt and a guitar. You can listen the track here:

The original composer is Kow Otani
Hope you'll enjoy!

Nice work! I agree with what was already said. Lot's of great textures. Drums are really dry. Some reverb probably will go a long way.

I'll try to apply this for a next time :)

What an interesting cover, and amazing atmosphere! Reminds me of Sakuraba.

I really like the lead guitar you've used for this. My only gripe is with the drums. I feel like they don't exactly match the style you were going for, maybe some reverb on the drums would've helped. That, or making them acoustic drums. Also, perhaps some of those unused frequencies in the background could've been filled out with some strings or choir.

Overall, I really, really enjoyed this though. I've looped it a few times already. Great job.

Hello! Thanks a lot for this return; with this track I tried something I'm not used to do, and wanted to use some "electro" drums. Originaly I had the Metal Gear Solid drum&bass style in head, this is what I wanted to do with the drums ^^

What do you mean by "unused frequencies in the background"? I'm really not good at mixing, so if you have any advices I'd be glad to hear.

Thanks again!

By unused frequencies I mean... it's a little bit hard to explain, for me but I'll do my best:

So, when you have say, a rock song, typically you'll have the following setup at the very least: bass, drums, guitar. In your song's case it's bass, percussion/drums, guitar, keyboard.

So the instruments would occupy the following ranges:

Drums: varies/range agnostic

Bass: bass range

Guitar: mid range

Keyboard: mid range/high range

Then we have to consider the way the instruments are being played:

Guitar: not a lot of reverb (+potential mid range that could be used)

Keyboard: this is the big one: not a lot of reverb, short, "pluck-style" release. (+ a lot of potential mid and high range that could be filled should you want to)

So in this case, I see 2 things you could do if you'd like:

Option no 1 would be to have some strings or pad in the background, either overlaying the keyboard lines or playing their own harmonies.

Option no 2 would be to add more reverb to some instruments. The way you have it set up allows you some freedom in adding a bit more reverb to the drums, perhaps adding some more percussive elements on top of them. Not only that, but you could choose to add more reverb and delay to the keyboard line and the guitar. Your current mix would allow for it.

I hope that helped. I'm not always the best at explaining the technical side of music.

Off-beat tempo really works well here creating that wonderful atmosphere. Nice job.

Very interesting track with a lot of details and great textures (gotta love the guitar)! Nice use of the panning that gives the track a sense of vastness.

Vraiment très stylé ;)

Wonderful use of texture here! The guitars fit great with everything else, though you wouldn't expect them to at first. It all adds up to a really great sense of atmosphere.

I like the stereo harmonics, nice touch.
