Description
Hi! Ok so I love Breath of the Wild and FEZ, and not only the games, but also the soundtracks. So I decided to cover FEZ tracks, but in the style and locations of breath of the wild.
Once I started with the idea I fell in love with it: Gomez (the little guy you control in fez) traveling through Hyrule, from the coasts of Faron to the snowy peaks of Lanayru.
I can't put in words how botw soundtrack shaped my way of seeing music, and also my way of living. And FEZ soundtrack... it's a universe on it's own.

To cover them, I first listened to de FEZ tracks while on the piano, and started playing it by ear, repeating multiple times.
Then, I went to my DAW which is REAPER, and started recording midi from my electric piano.
Then I had two youtube windows open: one with the FEZ track and the other one with the ambience of the BOTW location. I started noticing what sounds did they use in the zelda tracks, how the tracks started and all of that.
After I had finished, I went to freesound to select some ambience recordings, cause I love nature sounds in music and I felt it served very well to the idea :D

I basically never did covers, so this experience was something new and super super fun. I learned that doing covers is incredible, and this inspired me to make more from different games :)

I'm not completely sure what the genre is, but I could say Ambient and Soft Piano.

Loved every moment, every second.

I'll admit, I'm biased. BOTW is one of my favorite games of all time and Disasterpiece is one of my favorite game composers of all time.

I'll be streaming these long after this jam is over.

There's no words to describe how that last sentence makes me feel. Thank you <3

You're welcome! I also completely forgot to mention how much I love the cover art. Seriously, you killed it.

I actually get a Minecraft vibe from these but I'm not complaining. I think the minimalist style works great here with some fine use of negative space. Great stuff.

"Formations at the Peak" was my favourite.

Oh yeah you're right, I love minecraft's soundtrack and it probably is one of those musical subconscious inspirations that shape the way I play and create. Also Formations is the one I'm happiest about ^-^
Thank you for listening!

A good idea to bring these two universes meeting!

This was wonderful. So calming. All of the ambience too, really could see it all like it was right in front of me.

You transported me to another universe. This was so well thought out and we can clearly see how much passion went into making this. Would love to see more of this and how you would approach more dynamic tracks. Great job!

Aaaa that's like the most beautiful thing someone can say to me, thank you so much!!

Nicely done, especially given that you've actually played this yourself.

This is such a creative concept, nice job!

I love the wind, water, and nature sounds! I think this could have benefited from a little bit of bitcrusher/downsampler on the master bus, but overall I think this is really good!

Developer(+1)

Ohhh, do you say it from a production or artistic perspective? because you reminded me that at the beggining i wanted to do that because the original fez soundtrack uses a lot of bitcrushing everywhere! Then I simply forgot haha. Anyway, thank you!

Nice work, would have loved to hear more of the staccato rhythm part at the end of "Forgotten By The Sea Side".
