No Escape From The God Of The Dead - A Tribute to Hades's itch.io page

The title of the original song(s)
God of the Dead/ The Unseen One - Hades

Is this a cover, tribute, or medley?

Tribute

Description
This is a tribute to the soundtrack of Supergiant Games' "Hades". Some of the defining themes of the game are persistence and progression, as each death sends the player back to the very beginning of the game, but with the ability to permanently upgrade the protagonist Zagreus for the next attempts.

The entire soundtrack was used as inspiration, but there is great deal of similarity between this track and "God of the Dead"/"The Unseen One", which plays when you fight the final boss of the game.

Metal/Progressive, I composed each track by simply jamming on guitar and recording the best of what I came up with, and programming drums underneath. Made in Reaper.

You perfectly captured the Hades feeling. This could be thrown in the game as it is and I wouldn't be able to tell it apart! Great track!

I didn't see the metal part coming, was very pleasantly surprised. I'm actually going to save this for later. xD

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it, have you played and/or watched Hades before?

Submitted

I haven't, but after listening to this, I might give it a try.

Developer(+1)

Ahh you definitely should! I figured you might not have since you said the metal was unexpected, because the metal soundtrack is one of the defining features of the game lol

I really love the pacing of this, especially when things pick up around the 2:30 mark - good stuff.

Developer

Thanks! That tempo change is supposed to mimic the second (and/or third) phase of the final boss

Great job. Definitely nailed the Hades vibe. Favorite part was the last solo!

Developer

Thanks, glad you liked it! The final guitar harmonies took the most takes to get down out of everything here lol

Sounds awesome and I love it!

Oh yeah, loved that tempo change! Felt like Motorhead and DragonForce. The theremin was essential too if you want to call it a Hades tribute, great job!

Developer

Thanks! Glad you commented on the "theremin", I don't know if there's actually a theremin in the OST but I honestly just thought it was a synth and trying to replicate the tone with my own synth was honestly probably the most difficult part of this whole thing for me lol
