Description
The game's story :
Karin takes her Grandma to a journey around the world to fight against memory loss. Your goal is to collect memories symbolized as fragments of Grandma's favorite song, a waltz that brings her to her childhood but that she forgot.

The soundtrack :
Karin's Theme starts with strong piano chords and a bright melody that evokes Karin's bold personality and enthusiasm that helps her overcoming this difficult trip. A softer melody quotes fragments of the waltz, just as Grandma would sometimes sing during the trip as her memories emerge.

Grandma's Waltz takes place in a quiet village where you can hear some ancient musical machine made of wood and brass playing Grandma's favorite song.

New Memories (Ending Theme) plays as you complete the game for the final cutscene. From a sea of thoughts, a voice sings each fragment of the waltz's melody. After the melody gets completed, Karin's victorious piano chords come in. The final section is a lively synth duo built on both Karin and Grandma themes.

Theme

a journey to remember.
Picture theme

How does it fit the theme?
The fictional game story is about memory loss and how traveling with loved ones can ease the pain and create new beautiful memories.
The picture theme gave me the idea of a retro/chiptune vibe with square bass lines and big synthesizer parts.

Wow, this is  amazing! I think my favourite track was the ending theme, but all of them got me into a happy mood pretty fast! Listening to this really made my day a bit better^^

Btw, how did you make it so that the soundcloud page is embed in the itch page?

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much ! :) From soundcloud, go to your track/playlist and in the menu you should be able to Share and then Embed. You should get some HTML that you can copy onto your itch page description.

Thanks for your help^^

I don't know why I didn't listen to this before. I like a lot how you related the musical ideas in every track. So good. Is not your fault, but I wish it had some nice Vocals. It gave me that 80s Pop song vibe, the melody and chord progression are so uplifting. Excellent work!

I really just liked almost everything about your submission. Well done! Karin's theme got me really pumped, the waltz was sensitive, and putting the two themes together in the third track was done so well. I'm going to listen to Karin's theme again to get me pumped about listening to and rating the rest of these submissions. :)

Perfect for a summer road trip down PCH or through central Japan. Nice big sounds!

Ayy, another soundtrack about memory loss, albeit with a much lighter tone! I really enjoy how you've utilized synths, particularly the square bass - it really fills out the sound.

The accordion in the second track does a really nice job of sounding old, making it really fit for the melody of Grandma's Waltz.

The ending theme has some really nice warm chords on the piano that complement the ambient synths really well. Good vibes all around!

Thank you som uch for these kind words! I saw when scrolling through the devlogs that you were working on memory loss too. I also got to say I’m SO impressed by how productive you are! Delivering a 9 tracks professional soundtrack in just a week, that is some skill I quite envy :) I look forward to hearing your next works!

A great flashback to the 80s which rocked the youth of so many players. The sounds are absolutely pleasant, and the melody could have been written perfectly at that time. The three pieces present three distinct ways of approaching the same melody, always with a natural sense of detail and balance. Even the second, simpler in its orchestration, takes advantage of the pressing sounds of the keys of the accordion (or the mechanism of a barrel organ) for more realism. If I had to choose only one of these pieces to represent the OST, I would still opt for the third which alone brings together several colors / moods. The first part, softer, is also an excellent surprise, especially with this very airy voice, before a return of a version close to the first song. Incredible to find all the singularity of this time with such efficiency. Bravo à vous, et excellente continuation dans vos projets !

Merci beaucoup! Fine analyse, comme d’habitude :) The third track was indeed the one I started with and I wanted to give it a cinematic feel. And for the 80’s synth/rock aspect, I usually go for orchestral stuff quite by default and I thought for this one I’d try something else. I’m glad you enjoyed it! Bonne continuation également !

It will goes well with "Moving Out" game, you should check this out :D They should hire you!

Cool synths, I enjoyed bass parts the most. Good job!

Thank you! I see the parallel with this soundtrack and it is flattering because 80’s synth is not what I usually do. :)

Your music sounds like the start to one hell of a fun adventure! I love the synth-pop vibes! I get old cartoon feelings from it. Early ps2 adventure games. Incredibly well produced! Well done!

had a very old school anime feel for me. could be very nice to open a game, but would also fit a movie/anime series in my opinion.

Each song has a unique feeling and is nicely produced

These pieces give off good vibes, I could get nostalgic to this soundtrack

Love the 80's style of music production! It's a very tough story to base music around while still giving it some positive vibes. Either way, feel like you smashed it! :D

Thanks a lot ! Yeah I came out with the idea of a bright and over the top optimistic soundtrack to counterweight a quite depressing narrative setup. I feel if I had to do it again, I would be more subtle about it though!
