Very cool experience, I havent tried many driving games myself so I cant comment on the controller, but it felt good to me. I tried the drift mode a couple times and that held my interest. Im not sure if the paint changes the friction of the car, I couldnt feel a difference when driving over it, but it would be interesting if it affected you the next time you drove over it. Nice work! Solid sounds (though quite loud)
Thank you so much for playing, Desktoy! We're glad to hear that you had a good time.
We really appreciate both your interest and your insightful feedback. We'll definitely consider it when polishing this project in the near future.
This feels like a really solid concept! Splatoon meets Need For Speed.
It's already been said, but a smaller map would probably make it better. In a multiplayer game you don't want players going off and doing their thing alone. Multiplayer is best when interacting with other players. And in a smaller map the players will naturally spend more time bumping into each other and going over each others' tracks. The size of the current map feels like you could each have your own single player adventure separately (which isn't great).
I haven't played it properly in 2 player yet. But I feel like there's an obvious mechanic when it comes to bumping cars:
The opponent's car should not explode, instead it should spin away, out of control, leaving behind a trail in your color.
Another thing, that has been mentioned. There should be a way to get nitro back... perhaps skidding slowly replenishes nitro? (I guess it's that, or over-time, or pickups). Hmmm... Are those blue capsulte pickups?
I don't play many driving games, but I enjoyed the extra-arcady feel while I had Nitro. Felt like I had more control than in a normal driving game (and the Nitro made it much easier to keep a skid going, which felt fun).
Getting stuck upside down after ramping was less fun :P
Thank you for your thoughtful feedback! We appreciate your positive response to the concept. We're glad you noticed the pickup capsules – yes, those will indeed replenish your Nitro. Your insights about map size and multiplayer interaction are valuable, and we're considering adjustments to foster more engaging player interactions. We're so glad you enjoyed the arcade-like feel and the control with Nitro. As for the upside-down situation after ramping, we're on it! Your input is truly valuable as we work to enhance the gameplay experience!
Some fun drifting! Love the cones that can be bashed! Some polish to the VFX would be the icing on the cake for this one! ;)
Thanks Eric! Your VFX insights are spot-on – looks like you know your stuff. I don't suppose you happen to know a VFX artist who could sprinkle some extra awesomeness on this cake? XD
Cool concept, while there could be some tweaks I think the driving feels really good and the sound works well, I like the the concept of playing Splatoon with a car :) in terms of improvement, for me it would be a better level design, start of a bit easier to teach the player the concepts, on a smaller map, I felt a bit lost in Free Play and wasn't sure what I suppose to do, then start building up to more difficult challenges. Otherwise good luck with the Jam
Thanks for your feedback! We're thrilled you find the driving enjoyable and the concept intriguing. Also, your suggestion about level design is on point – starting with easier challenges on a smaller map to introduce concepts gradually sounds like a great way to enhance the player experience. Your insights are really invaluable as we work to refine and improve the game. Thanks again, and good luck to you too!
Good concept, however I think a lot can be improved with the feeling of driving and steering. I myself am working on a very big car project and I understand it can be tricky to have a proper balance between arcade and real life car physics. Currently the steering is too snappy and the NOS doesn't fill up again after using it fully, I would recommend trying to work on the steering and maybe play around a bit with Physic materials and the Wheel colliders (if you're using any) to get a better feel of drifting. Otherwise had a lot of fun drifting around. Nicely done.
Hey there, big thanks for sharing your thoughts with us! We're genuinely thrilled that you're digging the concept and understand your perspective on the driving and steering experience. Your point about the steering needing some fine-tuning is right on the money! It's super cool that despite that, you had a blast drifting around. Your feedback is like gold to us as we continue to polish things up. Just wanted to let you know that your support truly means the world – thanks once again!
It's a massive pleasure, and I'm glad that I'm able to give you valuable feedback! Looking forward to the improvements if you're still planning to add some :D
Hey, the page looks to be restricted :)
