Have you checked that your GDD is publicly accessible ?
Yes
Is your game set to public on itch.io so we can see it?
Yes
Summarise your game!
Fight on your path to healing, use your passion for life (your souls flame) to conquer your trauma! Be careful or you may just end up becoming a weapon against yourself!
Please explain how your game fits the theme:
I wanted to incorporate the theme in as many ways as possible. The player being a weapon against the world, and even themselves. I want the story and themes of the game about trauma and your passion for life to be about how sometimes the bad things that happen to us hold us back from being our best selves, being a weapon against us.
Is there anything you'd like the judges to pay particular attention to?
This is my first ever (somewhat) complete game and game jam! Any and all feedback appreciated!
Don't sleep on the credit song !!!

Great game! I enjoyed the concept and how you translated those aspects into gameplay. I'm also a sucker for any sort of incremental progression system, like you have with the powerups here. I kind of wish the control scheme was a little different, felt a little awkward to have to use the spacebar to charge the shots. Overall very nice succinct package that uses both its sound and visuals well to communicate to the player
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it! The charge is a little clunky, I agree. I think if I continue to work on the game (which I probably will!) I'd scrap the charge all together, maybe make it an upgrade you get later or something. It can feel like a bit of an after thought, so I totally get what you're saying with that
This is very impressive for a first game and game jam submission. Was great fun playing, and I like the progressive buffs awarded as well as the great art and sound design. One suggestion for a future level is a more abstract world. I think it'd fit in nice with the overall theme of the game. Good stuff!
Thank you so much! I would love to do more abstract levels and art design in the future, wanted to do it with the first level. Just limited a bit by my own artistic capabilities lol. If I continue to work on the game post-jam I'd definitely want to get a good artist on the game to help really bring the themes to life
was really really really really really really really fun! Dark souls of this game genre cause I’m bad at gaming! Had lots of fun and wish there was more!
Reminds me of binding of isaac! I'd make the rats 1-shot to kill to make the player feel a little stronger at first. but there's a good foundation here! and nice art!
Thank you! And that's what Nate (the sound guy) was saying about the rats! Noted. I should have listened. The game is heavily inspired by Isaac, glad its coming across! I hope it stands out on its own as well though. There's also the charge mechanic that allows you to one shot them if you hold space just a little bit and then fire. Though even I'll admit, I forget the charge exists half the time lol
