  • Pretty good game with good storytelling! It implements the theme nicely and has neat gameplay mechanics too despite being a visual novel. Good job!

Did you include your Game Design Document in your downloadable files?
Yes

Tell us about your game!
The Spreadening is a visual novel game set in a Cthulu mythos inspired world. The fate of all humanity and your sanity depends on defeating a lesser cosmic entity in a winner-take-all game of Klaatu Barada Nikto, or as we humans say, Rock, Paper, Scissors.

A rough, hand drawn approach to the artwork was used to make the story visually engaging and playful. Color selection was an important consideration to create a strong, distinctive style that is (hopefully!) fun to look at.

Did you remember to include your Game Design Document?
Yes

Is your game set to Public so we can see it?
Yes

Extra Notes

Loved the colour scheme and visuals! Enjoyed the use of the rock-paper-scissors system and language! Brief but really fun introduction to more potential gameplay. Please add your links so we can follow you :3

Hey, thanks so much for playing my game and the feedback! Now that the jam is over, I plan to update the game and build out the rest of the story that ended up on the cutting room floor.

I share artwork on IG mostly :)

Amazing art style, very Lovecraftian language. Though it ended quite abruptly and felt short, the game was very enjoyable!

Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed the art and Lovecraft - you can probably tell that's where I poured most of my time while working on the game :)

Woah! Amazing art style! And I for one have a strong interest on Cthulhu mythos as well.

Developer

Cool! Cthulu mythos is so much fun, and I love meeting other people who even know what those two words mean ;)
I see that we both aren't afraid to through subtly to the wind when it comes to naming our games, LOL.
