  • Your game implements the theme in a unique way and has some solid core mechanics. I did not understand what exactly what happening while playing. The text wasn't very clear to me and some more guidance while playing or animations to show what is happening would be ideal. Overall it looked very promising - nicely done!

Such an apt description of the alabaster ovoid that cradles the ultimate breakfast potential within its translucent embrace.

Every tooltip is just as pleasant. So much charm and personality everywhere. Artstyle is adorable and the creatures are so cute. I did die horribly on my first attempt, but it was smooth sailing from there. And it was so worth it! Lovely game!

during testing the egg was unironically the most broken item in the game, allowing to one shot almost anything in combination with almost any other buffs XD. it was either nerf it or make every other item useless(it's still probably the best item in the game with all balance being done around it thought XD)

Interesting idea you've got there! The concept is great, the system is complex enough but still manageable. It takes me a while to understand what's going on, but after then that it's smooth sailing. Good job!

My little criticism would be the UI could do a bit more with either animations or effects, so that the effects can be seen more clearly. Putting the potion on the top of the screen would also be a minus since you are constantly putting ingredient into the potions, you are really moving the mouse a lot. I'd also say that only four ingredients don't really leave much choice to the player, as in later levels what I usually do is just dump everything into the defense potion, and the remaining into attack. That makes using effect much more punishing yet without much reward. And it also drags out the battle a bit too.

But overall, I'd say this is a nicely built game. Well done!

thanks for the feedback! yeah i'll add some colored borders around effects, also texts and number popups when in the acting phase. while just using attack and defense is a fine strategy, stacking buffs can be really powerful. most items are meant to synergize with at least 2 other ones, and for that reason each individual buff might seem weak on its own

Cool concept and nice execution! It took me a bit to fully get what was happening, but after that I really enjoyed it

Developer

Really glad you enjoyed it! We are hoping to expand on it more in the future.

Here are my notes that I took while playing.

- sick main menu

- it took me 1 death to understand the game, which is good for the minimal amount of tutorial you had.

- Tooltips really help the game, I love them.

- wait I'm not confused, I killed the enemy and I died? Or was I the enemy? ??? nvm it just crashed

- The tutorial is weirdly timed

- I like the wobble animations and the background, any movement is always good for looking more polished.

- I never used the status effects. The damage or defense always felt more meaningful in the fight. (this is a lie after finding the healing one, that one is sick)

- god the "light" joke was so good

- a click on the next turn button would be nice feedback

I played through the entire game. I liked it a lot. Good job!

Thanks for playing through Kirstoff Red. We have some plans to try and improve upon the experience and add some more content after the game jam. We did quite a few playtests and found that some of the status effects were much better than others and we did not seem to use very many of them, but I found out on a couple of playthroughs that trying different combos was great, and I  had fun with it. It can be really powerful if you combine stuff the right way.

Hopefully, we will continue to grow the game and polish it into something really great.
