  • Love the artstyle and it reminds me of how Undertale combat worked. It's a little frustrating when you only have 10hp and need to get through the biters. Would like to have some music for the game, that would definitely enhance the gameplay. I also don't see a lot of Alchemy usage in regards to the theme.

Greatly enjoyed the style of it, although putting it in fullscreen pushed the resolution to way outside the intended boundaries and made a bunch of visual glitches

Gameplay is cool but hard as balls, that circular biter attack killed me literally every time it was used since the directions it went out were different from the directs it went in. The owl's claw is also larger than the warning window which meant I got hit sometimes even though it seemed like the game told me I was safe

The spells and their effects are cool and show a lot of depth, although the UI for it is very clunky (it would help a lot if the back menu let you instantly leave the spell effects menu)

The monster designs are super cool, so that gets an extra shout from me

I enjoyed playing this game! Definitely hard for me, so took me a long time to make any progress. The visuals and game mechanics are cool!

Here's some feedback if y'all expand on this:

  • Like I (and others) have said: the game feels really hard. I think I died in the first battle, and then when I respawned I kept dying to the biter and spider, like tons of times. I think I was just super bad at avoiding the biter's attacks. I pushed through it, but yeah the biter felt super hard for a first enemy.
  • I think some of the UI feels a little hard to get through, especially gain the ability to apply a bunch of effects to spells. If I just want to apply one effect to one spell it feels like a lot of menus to go through, so that doesn't really feel great right now.
  • The knight battle is interesting, didn't know about it until I read the other comment so I went back to check it out. Not sure if you intentionally made it a 'secret' boss or something, or if you intended on people to always get to it for like story reasons. Another suggestion I might have if you do want the game to be very hard overall and want to 'guarantee' they get to the knight--maybe you can do one of those things in RPGs where your character starts out at a crazy high level but gets 'reset' to level 1 at the end of the opening sequence. A good way of showcasing where you might end up, if that makes sense? And basically after that first set of battles where you're back at level 1 you go back to more of a tutorial area, or something. Just a random idea--in any case I would say that it's very easy right now to miss the knight.
  • I really liked the messages when you use the item menu :)

Overall, great job!

thank you for your kind words and feedback!

For this jam I had so many ideas and wanted to include way too much. The knight was meant to be the end game boss who you can meet at the beginning for a teaser of what to expect later.

The project scope was way too big to finish in 2 weeks so we had to make as much as we could.

A few weeks after the voting concludes I might attempt to finish and polish the game if I have enough free time.

Liked the combat, but I find it unfortunate that the Knight has all the coolest attacks, I say this because getting to the knight is the difficult part I would of never seen them if I didn't replay the game a second time. the Biters basic attack is in my opinion one of the most difficult to dodge out of all the normal enemies if you don't know the strategy for dodging it, and having them be the first enemy you meet is unfortunate as you are in your weakest state with 10 HP, and dying results in teleporting to the next area, locking you out of seeing the knight. some suggestions could be to change the respawn location only when meeting the knight, or change the enemies to be more beginner friendly. other then that nitpick, I did enjoy the game. the combat and dodging was fun.

This game is cool! Giving undertale vibes, I'm living for it. The art is so cute! Great job!
