  • this is a great base for a game. I would try to add a few more enemies and make the cart go a little faster and longer.

Did you include your Game Design Document as a Google Drive link?
Yes

Seriously... did you include your Game Design Document?
Yes

Is your game set to Public so we can see it?
Yes

Tell us about your game!
Royal Wagoneers is an on rails shooter, about traveling between towns transporting alchemic goods. You’re living the dream of being a fantasy trucker.

It takes heavy inspiration from FTL: Faster Than Light in having to manage the power to multiple wagons.

The controls are simple of all being mouse. You click to shoot from your main wagon, and click on UI buttons to distribute your power among your other wagons.

Extra Notes
The Game Jam was super fun. Requiring a game design doc helped add a lot of structure.

Very cool concept! My feedback:

Art

I like the unified and simple art style, nicely done making it cohesive.

Bugs

When I died at the end, a menu appeared asking to retry or give up. I clicked restart and it crashed or something; the game became unresponsive and I couldn't continue.

Controls

It would be nice if shooting would continue on a timer when you hold the mouse button rather than clicking for each shot.

Game Design

I really like the design of the cargo units but I felt the "spread" shot wasn't worth it at all... until suddenly I was overrun and could have definitely used it lol.

Developer

Thanks a bunch for the feedback!  Definitely the hardest part was realized I scoped the game a little too large for getting everything balanced.  Such as the "spread" shot, player shooting, and how useful some wagons are compared to others.

I love the concept of the this game! I did eventually get off railed somehow, and I had to watch as everything I worked for floated off into the void 😅but other than that, I enjoyed it!

Developer

Thanks Kain!  Ah dang that was a bug from awhile ago, that thought was completely fixed when I pushed the full version up.  But I'm glad you enjoyed it still!
