  • The game was an interesting take on the theme. It was an entertaining game but I was struggling with controlling the character and making him go where I want. I did like the art style of everything, giving off that old 90s/2000s cartoon feel. The movement was a bit wonky and hard to manage, especially in the first level where you cant zoom out so if you fall on the floor you pretty much cant get up. after the first level it became a little easier. The variety to everything was quite nice, multiple enemies and traps really made it fun.

Summarise your game!
Not So Armed is a Platformer, Management, Puzzle game about playing as the weapon. You beat levels by triggering certain events in the game, whether that be taking out all enemies in the level or hitting buttons to unlock the door. You move around with an air propulsion gun and use your special body to take out enemies.

Please explain how your game fits the theme:
The player plays as a janitor who stumbled apon a chemical that made his body super strong but hes unable to move his limbs. You use a air gun to lauch your body at enemies to defeat them. The goal is to progress levels by exiting through a door, this door unlockes after defeating all enemies.

Is there anything you'd like the judges to pay particular attention to?
The great artwork, cartoonish style, and stratagistic gameplay.

The concept is definitely there.  It reminds me of the golden age of flash games, with lots of fun little cartoon puzzle games. If this got a bit more polished I could definitely see myself playing through a longer version.

A few things I would change, It wasn't very clear what was killing me sometimes---I would just be moving along and suddenly the level restarts. The enemy bullets could also be a bit clearer, and maybe they could have attack animations.

The physics needs a bit of work as well. At the moment, there are some issues with getting stuck in corners, getting stuck fallen over, etc. I think it would also be fun if you made gravity weaker or made the gun more powerful. To get around I kind of need to spam it, although I don't know whether this was intentional or not. I also don't really understand the reason for having a bullet limit, although that's my preference.

Finally, on the third level, when I killed both the guys and got to the door, nothing happened. I'm pretty sure this is a bug.

Overall, I think this game could be really fun with a bit of work. The framework for the gameplay is in place, and the art is quite fun.

Happy jamming!

Really nice idea! The art is great and the physics are super fun to play around with. I think this could be a lot of fun if you used the explosions as a mechanic to move the player through the level instead of them hurting the player. But overall this is a great game, super fun! Great work!

Yeah we could think about that if we still continue to work on this game... I really thank you for the feedback!

Art is super polished! Cool idea of using the actual player as the weapon and have the "weapon" be the movement.

Thank you! Really appreciate it :)

Unique idea, kind of fun to move around with the propulsion, but i think the difficult curve is way to high. did several times on level two, you directly started with bullet enemys, lazer, exploding stuff etc.

you should introduce the player step by step to all the mechanics and not throw everything at him at once.

Other than that, well done. i liked the comic artstyle

Thanks for the feedback! we had alot of ideas and traps made but we lost track of time and had to rush making some levels due to time restraints. Introducing the new mechanics step by step is a great suggestion and might be implemented if we continue to work on the game.
