- First of all, volume sliders on the opening game window for the WIIIIIIIIN!! GG and thank you! The sound effects and intro to the lore was so well done. I loved the changes in music, the sound effects all helped emphasize the impact of things and helped immerse me into the game. The game world is so cute yet virile haha, perfect! You did a great job on making a compelling introduction that hooks the player with art, sound, narration, and lore explanation. The world is so nicely made and the "enemies" (or innocents, however you want to think of it) had good AI movement and were diverse in a satisfying way. I like how I died! That was cool having some of the players glow with a cure! Wasn't expecting that. I liked the power ups. Love an area of effect mechanic. For some reason a lot of the things didn't load. The picnic tables and trees were just black squares. Bummer cuz your videos of the game look so cute! You created some great art and world building in this game. It ran well with no lagging and I was compelled to play more and more. Great job on this game and really good theme interpretation! I am impressed with what you made in such a short amount of time. Great game! I hope you keep working on this. Thank you for your submission to the game jam.

Summarise your game!
Host Hunter is a top-down 2D action game where the player embodies a virulent entity (“the virus”), aiming to eliminate as many targets (NPCs) as possible. Unlike traditional wave-based survival shooters, NPCs and Paramedics spawn continuously, escalating in frequency and difficulty over time. When the player kills NPCs, some may drop mutation vials that boost the virus’s offensive capabilities. Meanwhile, Paramedics do not cure NPCs; instead, they actively seek and damage the player’s viral load to diminish the virus’s health and eventually eradicate it.
Please explain how your game fits the theme:
The player controls a virus (the weapon) with the goal of spreading and infecting civilians.

Loved this. On top of fun gameplay you also used asset pack that Iove and in the end you have a really nice looking prototype. There were a few small bugs and performance pitfalls but overall game was very addictive and fun to play. One of the pitfalls was that for the first upgrade the game froze a bit and thats probably because you were loading those upgrades. I think you would need to preload those resources earlier or maybe on game start. There are definitely more information on the internet. But the UI screen with upgrades looked great, loved that that it was "alive" rather than static. And the cutscene at the beginning was also a really nice touch.
The game looks great, sounds great, and most importantly plays great. Love that there are both mobs you have to chase, and mobs chasing you. Great job.
Played this 30 minutes straight and it's very addicting, good job
Thanks for your feedback 8ito, we are glad you think so!
Getting Holo cure vibes from the gamplay.
The style is nice executed, characters, environment, and virus bits look nice. The vials, in opening scene and in game, look a off compared to the rest(they are a different pixel resolution i think).
One other gripe is that is sometimes not clear what the player or any character collides with and what not, seeing them walk over trees and water and such. Feels like there is a bit of inconsistency.
Gameplay is well balanced, needing to stay close to infect people, but also far away from the paramedics.
Well done!
Thanks for playing and thanks for the feedback!
The terrain collision is something we want to continue working on and make more consistent for sure.
