- Reading through your GGD, your plans for the game were well explained, and I appreciated the breakdown of all the different mechanics! I had a lot of fun actually, and I like that there was volume options implemented! The combat itself was interesting, though it took me a while to figure out how to move. It seems like whenever you click out of the game and back in, or change it to full screen, the movement keys stop working. I was able to fix it by hitting escape when I made it full screen, but I could not without reloading when I clicked out. I really like the sprites you created, though I might add in the "health" of the enemies and objects, showing them getting more beat up the closer they are to dying/breaking. Overall I enjoyed the game, and really liked the mass attack after beating the two rooms!
- The game plays quite well in the browser and the GDD is well written and is a great base for the games development, it gives a lot of insight into the plans for the game and how it should work. The movement and general gameplay feels well, some more animations on the punches and kicks would be awesome. The sweeping animation for the punches and kicks is well working and fitting to the hit boxes. The sounds are playful which might not completely fit to the theme of the game, depending on where you want to go with the art style of the game, if you are going more on a fantasy side you could go with a fox which is doing tail sweeps and bites. With a bar brawl theme you might wanna look into a bit lower sound effects for the Qi mechanic. The sounds for the punches and kicks are awesome, also for a bar brawl theme I absolutely love the sounds of the old Bud Spencer and Terrence Hill movies. Punching boxes felt really cool and had a nice feel to it, when punching a door and it breaks maybe let it break and disappear so it doesn't stand in the way. If an enemy stand behind the door while breaking it, it could be another cool effect pushing them back from the exploding door. Overall a solid prototype which shows off the potential of the game, keep it up and happy to see more of this.

Summarise your game!
Martial Instrument is a game prototype built for the Pirate Game Jam 16. You are a martial artist and you beat up other martial artists. There was going to be a plot about a jealousy, a bounty, betrayal, and revenge - Nobody ever leaves a powerful person alone - but there were time limitations.
Controls:
W/A/S/D - Move
SHIFT - Dash
LMB - Punch
RMB - Kick
Dashes, Punches, and Kicks, will vary depending on if and how you are attacking.
Please explain how your game fits the theme:
We're aware there's no player damage or fail condition for the game presently. Qi will still give points but the bar isn't triggerable.
Is there anything you'd like the judges to pay particular attention to?
Heytomato would love to have feedback on their sounds.
Seek is fine with general feedback.
Artock would like people to make note of any moments that resemble "I'm happy I can actually do this" or "I wish I could have done that in this situation" or any elements that disrupt the level-to-level flow of the game and take players out of the action.

Really satisfying mechanics, especially the knock-back. I really enjoyed kicking entire doors off their hinges straight into enemies, sending the doors and bad guys flying back. The melee style of combat is a good fit for this theme imo, and I really enjoyed it amongst all the gun games I've played so far. I dunno if you want suggestions, because I know it's just a prototype, but with some extra environments/levels/art tweaks, a small plot, and some difficulty ramping, I could see this being a full game. The knock-back could be a major mechanic and you could have a real-time Fights in Tight Spaces vibe (just the combat obv not the deck stuff).
It’s good to hear the effort in the knockback and doors really paid off. Thanks!
Cool game! I like being able to push the props around, could be cool to have some kind of puzzles that use that mechanic.
There was genuinely a discussion about having to kick an object onto a pressure plate in the first room (set up so it might happen by accident) and reward the player for it! We didn’t manage to make it in.
The puzzles can’t be too complicated though since that would increase player downtime. They would have to be the kind of thing you could pull off in the middle of the fight - which is why objects should deal damage if you hit enemies with them.
