  • This game played very well, it was nice and easy to learn, hard to master. I like the art, it is very nice, very well done and makes me want more. Not being able to see the land after you go high enough seems a bit odd, maybe adding a camera zoom out if you go high enough would help. The sound effects were a nice touch, it helped to let me know if I hit an fruit or if my scale hit something.

Summarise your game!
You're a tiny dragon fleeing from some big bully dragons, even though you weren't even stealing their fruit at all. Your only offense is a good defense: throwing pieces of your tail at them, lizard-style, so that your spiky scales and sharp feathers stun them long enough for you to escape.

The terrain is procedurally generated and the environment and creatures are all hand drawn artwork.

Please explain how your game fits the theme:
In my game, you literally are the "weapon", as you must yeet chunks of your actual body to injure and deter your enemies. Using pieces of yourself is the only mechanic available to you besides diving.

Is there anything you'd like the judges to pay particular attention to?
This is a solo project that got repeatedly interrupted by several horrible emergencies, unfortunately. It's not as polished as I hoped, and it's missing a few details I planned for it. I also apologize if it doesn't run as smoothly as it should.

A fun little game! I really like the momentum based gameplay, and the procedurally generated terrain makes the game really replayable. The art style looks really nice, and the music and sound effects are great!

There are some issues I had with the game though, firstly, I would appreciate if there was a quick restart button, as this game seems to be meant to be tried repeatedly, a way to quickly restart instead of waiting for the game to end when you lose momentum would be great.

The initial gameplay seemed a little confusing, as I knew you were supposed to press Space to go down, but no idea how you gain altitude when you crashed into the side of a hill. Though after I slid down a slope for the first time and got to fly pretty high, I managed to get the hang of the game and it became really fun.

The game not being able to full screen was a little sad, as I feel the art would do well on a larger screen. A larger screen would also allow the camera to show more, as when the dragon flies really high up, you’re pretty much guessing what the terrain is like below and hoping you are pressing space down toward a slope.

Sliding on the ground like a snake seems to be a better way to play the game than flying, which seems a little counterintuitive to the dragon theme.

A really well polished and really simple game! I do hope for a few bug fixes and slight changes to make the game more fun, but the general gameplay mechanic is really great already!

The zoom out should be fixed with the update at least, so high jumps wont be as punishing. A quick restart is a great idea, thank you! I hope if you ever come back to this game in the future, it will be a better experience for you <3

Fun game! I played until I beat at least someone one the leaderboard :P

Few points of feedback I have : 

- There is a section where its hard to see difference between FG & BG

- Fullscreen does not fullscreen

- Enemies are fast when you try again ( mentioned on page :P )

- Music & SFX are great

- Cute artstyle

- When can I download this on my phone? I need it.

This was really fun! I like the steep (haha) balance between needing to land long jumps verses high jumps to retain the maximum speed and distance, but where the long jumps get you more distance, the high jumps allow for even better long jumps. But diving almost straight down is very hard to pull off successfully. It reminds me of the frustratingly hard Bear On A Scooter mixed with the terrain generation of Hill Climb Racing (although, HCR has only one generation of each map). Fun stuff!

Perhaps the hills could be a bit more smooth, but it's still manageable. I found a strat that works until about 130m where you hug the ground and jump a hill or two now and again. I also was able to smack myself out of the sky with one of my tail projectiles. I think it was because I launched one and it flew forward and missed the dragons so it landed on me latter. That was a goofy interaction.

Love the art for it too! The colors are really pretty and the background parallax is really cool. 

Something that felt a bit off was that the fruit in the trees was often unattainable. Not that I never got fruit out of the trees, but that I missed so much and I couldn't really ever get them. Don't know if this is intentional and in which case there is not complaints.

As for the theme, I like the idea of a regenerative tail projectile, but it didn't feel like it did much after 100m. Perhaps the amount of ammo could affect the weight and fly speed of your dragon? This could make for an interesting experience trying to balance your optimal stats while once in a while shooting the black dragon. 

Some funny idea that can go along with that is that the tail length can be infinite. That'd be pretty funny looking

A longer tail could definitely be really fun, but at some point a new challenge would be having to avoid the fruits intentionally because the tail is too long to hit the enemies anymore, lol. It's definitely true that the tail is under-used due to the pace of the current game. I hope it's a little more consistently useful in the future.

I LOVE the idea of tail size affecting your handling, btw, I might steal that!

Wow, thank you so much for playing and leaving so much feedback!! A lot of the difficulty currently comes from bugs or lack of polish, and I do hope that my new update (coming after the jam ends) will fix many issues. Your strat is funny because it's currently the strat that most of the top scorers are using, I think skimming somewhat low most of the time is the best way to play (in this version at least). Your score is excellent, and you're 7th place on the leaderboard now!

I'm undecided on if I want smoother hills. I started with smooth ones, and use perlin noise to make them a little more "terrain like" and I kind of like the challenge it adds? The upcoming update is easier in many ways I think, so I might keep the wonky ground for now. I'm hoping to make getting fruit a little easier and high jumps much easier to land.

I'm not sure how you smacked yourself out of the sky, lol, I'll have to investigate that, thanks for letting me know.

Beautiful art! It's amazing to look at. The gameplay is fun, but I think some polish is needed.
- There are some hills where you don't fly off as smoothly (they kind of jump you back so you don't have as much momentum)
- When you are too high in the air, you can't see the platforms. Tiny wings zooms the screen out when you are higher in the air so you don't need to rely on luck when landing from high up. I think something like that would benefit this game as well.
- At 130 meters, the platforms and the background blend together. I think you should prevent that from happening as it makes it really hard to see where you are supposed to land until the colors change again.
The last thing is that the dragons don't reset to their original speed until you reload the game, but you are already aware of that. Still a great game overall, just needs some quality of life improvements to the gameplay!

Wow great score, thank you for playing and for all the feedback! I'll add you to the leader board right away. My game actually does have a big zoom out, but unfortunately it's very subtle on the uploaded version, barely noticeable and I'm not sure why. I am really sorry about that, it makes things way more difficult and as soon as I can upload the corrected version of the game, it should be fixed (along with the speed bug, sorry about that, too). I will def also edit my color palette for the fog so the 130m blending issue is fixed. No pressure at all, but if you feel like giving it another try after the fixes/jam and letting me know if it's better for you, feel free to come back next week. <333

This is a really fun and addicting game! I got to like 144 meters after like 10 attempts which felt pretty good. I love the art style and the controls feel really good.

One small issue I ran into around the 140 meter mark was the hills and the background started to become the same color so it was a little hard to see the hills.

Aesthetics and simple gameplay make this a nice little skill based games. Reminded me of similar games that I used to play on phone and was addicted. Great thing is that you still have plenty of room to grow and add new content but the core game loop you already have and it is great. Good job  even  with all the distractions you had :)

Love the aesthetic and gameplay! The art is soothing and fun with a great color palette. When I finally got a hang of how the controls it was a lot of fun to catch air and soar. As others have already said a wider view may help with decision making on where the fruits are and where a player could dive. Also, the absolute loss in movement/momentum can be frustrating as your are learning. Overall I had a lot of fun playing your game! Great work!

This game is super cute. I would love to try and actually get good at it! haha only got 3.92 meters (jkjk) 

Love the art style and the changing scenery as you go along. The music fits really well. I really had a tough time timing my jumps to get max momentum. Guess I'll have to ask how the heck some of the others go about it, just a skill issue on my part.

Played too many tries than I needed. If the retry works perfectly then this might be even worse. I guess to that sense it was a blessing. Got a best score of 163.64 eventually.

Jokes aside, loved this game so much. It's really simple and addictive, reminds me of the wonderful days as a kid playing flash games such as Burrito Bison, ah memories. One minor nitpick that I really want to raise is the land and background turning pink at the same time, making the whole landscape really unreadable. The game is also a bit luck dependent, but I guess such is what this games usually about.

Anyway, good job!
