  • Okay the game runs great without any issues. You were going for the game mood and atmosphere and you NAILED it really solid I loved it and I felt it definitely. I love the visuals and art style and the music especially really sets the mood. The first puzzle is really clever using the lightning. It was a difficult puzzle but requires the player to pay close attention. Perhaps a way to introduce the importance of paying that much attention would be good. Would love to see where you take this!

Have you checked that your GDD is publicly accessible ?
Yes

Is your game set to public on itch.io so we can see it?
Yes

Summarise your game!
It is heavily story-driven mystery adventure with sidescroller mechanics and epic boss fight! You move with A ans D, investigate object E, change object W, Special action in act II is R. It is inspired by the movie Ninth Gate and Max Payne -series (at least first two). I hope you like it, cheers!

Please explain how your game fits the theme:
In the game the player tries to fight a boss but his powers are tied to the family emblem on his neck. As player discards this object he can hurt the boss just by touching bosses heart. This way player becomes the weapon as the old values are dead with the ripped off necklace.

Is there anything you'd like the judges to pay particular attention to?
I would like to know if the game mood and atmosphere is any good. I tried to get that right. The mechanics are very simple and I tried to "stick to my guns" by leaning on the feel.

I really love the art and atmosphere of the first section. The environmental puzzle was cool. Hated how he looked at me after getting the keys. God that was creepy! The boss was fine. There were some issues triggering the damage but it's fine. I was really interested in more of the backstory and wanted more of those storytelling aspects. Lean in!

Thanks for making this! :) Good job!

Thank you for this comment and taking the time to play the prototype. I really appreciate it. My intention is to create more story-driven titles in the future (that seems to resonate with people) and these kind of comments clarify to me that it is the right move. Thanks again bud :)

I love the art and the atmosphere is set realy well by the music. The grammar needs a bit of a touch up, but I enjoyed solving the door puzzle without checking the guide.

Developer

Thank you very much for the feedback! Yeah the grammar definitely needs some work.

The story premise was interesting, the art is pretty good , but i feel like the puzzle for getting the key could be hinted at more visually because it felt like i interacted with the poster multiple times after interacting with the door and it only randomly hinted the key in the window. but i think the game has potential if it was fleshed out

Thank you so much for the feedback! Yes the puzzle might be a bit too unfair I totally agree. The idea is to investigate the banner as the lighting strike is illuminating it (few seconds time window) but of course there are nothing to let the player know that timing things is a mechanic in the game.

The game looks interesting and the art style is definitely unique, I love the sound design of the game, and the story is interesting. The big floating head definitely caught me off guard haha.

I really liked the art style and the intro cinematic. Unfortunately I couldn't find the key in the first room, but still looks promising.
