Great sprites, sad fate of all life on our planet.

Developer

Thank you for complimenting it, I wasn't very confident so that means a lot! I hope that things will get better and this fate will stop.

Developer

btw thanks for streaming it!

The art and explaining extinct animals is good, but

- No Menu

- Very Short

- Did not fit really well to the theme. The tale is not tree's it is animals'

Developer

Thanks for playing! You're right it is very short and a menu would've been a good idea especially since you have to alt+F4 to exit. Good points, thank you:)

But no worries it looks cool.

Very glad someone is holding the 19th Century logging industry to account! Really adorable sprites (especially the heart on the frog's neck xxx). Now to google Las Vegas Leopard frog...

Thanks for Jamming!

Developer

Thanks for playing, it was a fun jam! Hope you host again, maybe I can finish a game next time! Here's the wikipedia if you're curious: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vegas_Valley_leopard_frog

Short and bittersweet - I'm all about tasmanian tigers so I enjoyed the message at the end

Developer

Thank you:) I love them too, it sucks they aren't around anymore I think they are fascinating. Would've loved to meet Benjamin.

Really nice game with a cool message but a bit lacking gameplay wise. The art style was really nice and the message is solid.

I saw in the other comment that you had less time for the jam but if you ever decide to improve this, here's some things I think could improve your game:

  • The player starting either in front of the tree directly or some sort of path leading to the tree so the player doesn't start off the game wandering aimlessly.
  • The game starting with the frog dialogue panel wondering where they are to set off the scene
  • Perhaps future tasks could include finding items in the surrounding water or having to talk to the other characters for information only they know (because of where or what time they lived in before their extinction)

Other feedback such as more atmospheric items (grass, flowers, etc.) seem pretty obvious so these are just things I wanted to add. Overall your game definitely has a lot of potential and if you do continue it, I look forward to seeing how it develops.

Developer

Thank you:) I think I will continue development. I had a lot of ideas for this and I would like to see them come to fruition. I like the idea of talking to the animals to learn more about them. Maybe since the Tasmanian tiger died off in the 30's he could have info about that time period. Great suggestions!

Played it! it seems as though it's more of a learning experience than a game though, since the only thing you really do is pick up 5 leaves. if you were aiming to make people more aware of extinct species this might just be good enough, but I really think you should've tried to add a little more to the game considering you submitted early. nice pixel art BTW

Developer

yeah I ran out of time and I am out of town for the rest of the jam. I reached too far I think, thanks for playing!
