This is really my kind of game! Some feedback:

 - I think the screen transitions could be more instantaneous

 - Sometimes it feels the input is missed. Not sure if you're doing any input buffering or if my keyboard is just too old, but some more input buffering may help it a lot

 - I think it could be more forgiving. Like if you drop 5 charges then half or more appear in the room the next time you play. Or maybe you don't die 1st time but just drop things

Overall, great game! Top marks

Very nice indeed! One I want to play more of.

The concept is a very neat iteration on the snake game, and the artwork is all great! I found the game very difficult, but I think for a very short arcade-like experience that fits just fine. My only gripe is that the repair menu felt much slower than I would like it to be.

Gameplay: 10/10 Made me feel like I had to think whilst also knowing what to do.

Just wish there was more to it. Felt a bit dissapointed when I finally beat it and there was no happy lil snake but I understand that the game jam time was a limiting factor so u really did a good job with this. If you had more time to make more levels this game could've fit right into an 80s video game collection without a doubt. Great work!

Thanks for such a positive review! It would have been super fun to add more to the game if we had more time, but maybe we can make a future update sometime ^^

I like the concept of the game, I wasn’t so good to take all the pieces in once.. after too many day I lost.. good job.

Developer

Thank you! I can agree the game can be tricky to get the hang of, even as the developer!

Gameplay cool and the use of the chosen theme is interesting.

I like 8 bits graphics!

Developer(+1)

Glad you liked it! We knew the 8bit graphics was something we were going to do regardless of theme, it's a great style!

Yes, it's true!

Sure adding a narrative to snake is awesome, but damn you really came up with some great ways to make it mechanically interesting. Having to choose what trailing ship parts i take in each room and trying to not get too greedy. Perfect use of the theme and gorgeous graphics.

One of my all time favourite PizzaJam games 👌

Developer

We're thrilled to hear you liked it so much!! We weren't certain if the gameplay loop would catch on, but it seems the risk was worth it!

The mechanics of Snake mixed with the dungeon layout of 2D Zelda?  I actually can't believe I've never seen this done before!  Neat concept, but I kind of sucked at playing it.

Developer

I had the idea of a Zelda-like game when we were considering doing the Medieval theme, but it seems like that carried over when we decided to go for "Snake Machine" haha. The game can definitely be tricky to get the hang of, something I'd have worked harder on balancing if we had more time!

Pretty fun actually. I like the idea and gameplay. Plus, it has a bit of lore too.
The only downside is the unnerving game over screen.
But that's expected if you are taking too long to collect.

Developer

Glad you liked it! We joked about making the game over screen scary, but it looks like the toned-down version did the job anyway!

Never seen an adaptation of Snake quite like this, very unique take on a classic!

Developer(+1)

Thanks! I'm glad the gamble of the adaptation seemed to pay off!

Cool game! I really enjoyed the twist on tha classic Snake but the game is hard at first. Once you get used to the mouvement and inputs, it's a bit repetitive.

Very nice game overall!

Developer

Thank you! It has a bit of a learning curve for sure! And that's a valid critique, we maybe could've added more gameplay elements if we had more time. Something to consider for the future!
