This game has a lot going on which has the potential for pretty deep gameplay, but also makes it a little confusing, and none of the individual mechanics seemed like they had enough of a gameplay impact, or at least they didn’t have enough feedback for me as a player to see that.

You’ve got the cranking to speed up, ok… but that makes the hurdles not really matter, because as long as I kept cranking they didn’t really slow me down. Then there’s also cranking to pass the baton, which was nicely implemented, but it seemed weird having the crank do two different things (why am I waving the egg around to run faster?). Then there’s the UFOs… was I supposed to avoid them or get in them and destroy them? I couldn’t really tell. Did it ever matter which lane I was in? I’m not sure. It never seemed like I had much control over the gameplay except having to crank to keep my speed up (or jump, but I couldn’t tell if I was timing the jumps right) and pass the egg whenever it let me.

Was there actually something chasing me from behind? I don’t think I ever saw it or felt threatened by anything other than the timer to pass the egg.

Don’t take my criticism the wrong way; with some tweaking, all these mechanics could be put together in a really interesting and satisfying way, I just had a hard time seeing how it all fit together while playing it.

 Appreciate the detailed feedback!!

I think we did struggle most with the theming and in turn the related mechanics not coming together yet, like the chasing and hurdles. I was also concerned with the controls, as it's very difficult to use the buttons and crank at the same time. It will likely become more focused over time on not mixing the inputs and having meaningful obstacles. There's definitely too much going on, but I hope it remains unique and fun as we develop it further :)

Love the weird theme!  Maybe I was doing something wrong, but it was like constant alarm sound effects?  Also uncomfortable to play and constantly crank...I wanted  to keep going, but between the sound and cranking I eventually stopped my run.  Love the fun premise and the great name, maybe I'm missing something though.

Thanks for the feedback! I think you were hitting the obstacles, you can jump over those with B or left arrow.

Also you don’t have to constantly crank, every rotation you complete with the crank increases/ decreases your speed depending on the direction. If you hit an obstacle your speed is decreased, so I think that’s why you had to ‘constantly crank’. I think we can explain these better and make the tutorial mandatory on the first run, which could alleviate some of these issues.

Also, we’re planning to make switching between lanes easier in the next update and allow you to adjust the length of your arm, so that hitting obstacles wouldn’t be as common anymore.

thank you for feedback, glad you liked 👍✨

Cool game! I'd love to see a more fleshed out version after the jam!

Developer(+1)

Thanks! We’ll work on more mechanics like different ground types, extending your arm length and more polished graphics after the voting period :D

Decent game! The game rules aren't clear though. Do the hurdles affect the player's life? How do UFOs affect you? Those things were not clear to me after a few minutes, which is unfortunate. But great music, original concept, would like to see more :))

Thank you very much for feedback!!!

Thanks for the input! Some of these are addressed in the tutorial, but we’ll put them on the game page as well and make the tutorial more thorough post-jam.

UFOs make you invulnerable (might not work in the jam version), give you points for each full crank you complete while they are active and give you more speed for each crank.

Hurdles slow you down and deduct points. You can jump over them by pressing left arrow or B.

...Goes to show not everyone will go to the tutorial if it isn't forced up you 😂

Interesting concept!

Endless runners are always fun.

Love the fact that there are difficulty options

Developer

Thank a lot!!!

The difficulty options were a last hour addition, glad you liked them. It was too hard for some while too easy to others so that seemed like a good way to solve that. Doesn’t affect score yet but we might have separate high scores for the difficulties.
