You obviously put a lot of heart into this game. I think you've done great work. Alas, I don't understand the puzzle. I had never heard of 2048 before, so I found a website to try that. Now I think I understand 2048 but I don't understand what the tiles are in your game are with the purple background and the silhouette of the flower. Also, the font of the numbers on your tiles is very difficult to read.
The coloured tiles are target positions, you need the matching value of flower on that tile.
Thank you
Oh yeah, another 2048 inspired game in the jam !
I really liked the twist you bring to the 2048 formula, having objectives on top of the regular game really brings another layer of strategy to the game, that's amazing.
What I liked less is the presentation of the game. The flower motif is really good, but the low resolution made distinguishing the different flowers really hard at a glance (especially those of same colors like the 16 and the 2). And the story does nothing to me, not the subject matter, but just having to read so much stuff between levels isn't for me (but I'm sure others might love it).
And even though the gameplay is really fun, I'm not sure there is enough diversity for 20 different levels, I feel like 10 would have been a sweet spot for the jam.
Anyway, really cute, really charming and super clever.
You made something very fun !
20 is a lot, I don't disagree, but the number of levels was determined by the needs of the story, even if that story is strictly optional it was a framing device I didn't want to leave behind. When the mechanics were designed and implemented I wasn't sure how long the story would be and I only thought of potential level diversifies after the fact.
I do agree that the resolution is too low and the visual clarity suffers for it in multiple ways, it's one of the first things I would have done differently on a do over, proud as I am of the 16px lilies.
First of all, great visuals and great story concept. But the puzzles… they seem to have randomness and that’s okay if it was just purely a remake of 2048 but there are certain numbers or flowers you need to combine mix up to. I actually like the concept but in the end, the randomness is sort of what threw me off.
Felt smooth to play and all the art looked beautiful. I think it could really use some calm garden music. Some small animations or something in the background could also help with what felt like a lot of empty screen space. Overall very well done!
I hear lovely calm garden sounds. I think I will be keeping this game open in the background at all times when I'm on my computer.
Very nice
I like the theme and the narrative. And pitting 2048 in there made it so no tutorial really needed.
It would've been nice if on the lvl selection screen completed lvls were marked. And if the required number didn't override the plant number.
Oh, and i've absolutely adored the letters, loved them
I love the twist on 2048 which was originally one of my least favorite games because of the mindlessness and lack of end. But that changed after I played this game thanks to its goals and levels.
