Fun game! The concept is superb, and the boss at the end was quite the formidable foe! I appreciated the level design, and how there was flexibility in the number of coins needed to clear some levels, and how there were multiple ways to clear others. That said, I did find aiming the cursor while platforming to be a fairly difficult task, but fortunately not too many levels required both to be done at the same time.
I did encounter some bugs. Running into a wall and jumping at the same time will cause the character's jump to be heavily nerfed, so it won't be able to jump onto whatever platform it was planning to, which is frustrating. (Especially on that rising lava level! I definitely missed having coyote time for that level, too, although that's a game design choice rather than a bug.) But more curiously, I encountered a bug where I could generate infinite coins by shooting coins downward near the top corner of a room - the end result of which can be found in this screenshot:
Overall, you have an extremely polished game that is one of the few from this jam that is pretty much a finished product already. It'd be amazing enough that you made this within three days for the jam, but I see you submitted with over a day left, so you really did this in just two days! You should definitely be proud of what you made!
Thank you so much for your comments! I plan on fixing the wall clipping and adding the coyote jump, but the duplication bug is something I think that can be exploited in a good way, since I designed this as a speedrun-oriented game!
And please, keep in mind you played the post jam version in order to vote! The jam version contains fewer levels and there is no boss <3
Bloody amazing! Nothing negative i can say about this game!
One bug i found was, on the very first level with lava, when i would go down (to the lower platforms) and shoot my coins directly down in the ground, they would actually destroy themselves with the lava particles so there are some buggy collisions there.
Great work!
Thank you, I'm glad you like it!
And thank you so much for reporting that bug, I'll check the collisions in the lava levels and fix that in the next version!
Hello, I love the game. It's fun but not only that, it's thought provoking. I appreciate how the game teaches you the basic mechanics and then tests you. I noticed that once under a platform, the game stops you form picking up any amount of coin that would get you stuck, I'm quite interested in how you pulled it off, I have a theory but I'd appreciate you sharing that information. Anyway, like I was saying, this is one of those games I wouldn't mind playing in my free time, so well done, I don't have any complaints, it's a full-fledged puzzle platformer. Kudos.
Thank you so much for your words!
To do the trick that you mention, every time the player touches a coin I check for collisions in the top of the coin stack, the position where that coin would be placed if picked. If it encounters a wall of any kind, then the player won't pick the coin.
I'm sure there are more optimized ways to do this, but given the time constraint and the low memory usage in graphics, I just went with what I think is the easy way!
That was my theory actually. Have a chill day lol.
That's definitely one of the best games of this jam! I love the polish of the game, nice controls, level design, cute graphic, it's all so good!
Thank you so much!! <3
Its too good
Thank you!
Beautiful Game very polish, cute graphic and great game design.
It would be nice if you could make platforms with spitted coins or when you spit coins would give the player some kind of air boost.
Thank you!
I thought about that, throwing a coin in mid-air and gaining a small boost, but I didn't have enough time for that (only used 48 hours bc of other work getting in my way and the quarantine "lockdown" in my country being a bit stressful). I plan on making a few more levels this weekend though, and I hope I can implement that!
if you intend to update the game i will follow you because i need more of this game ahahahahah
Damn! Nice game! This is a great concept for a full-length game. Good work
Thank you so much! I hope I can update it with a few more levels this weekend. Once I finish with work today I'll give your entry a try, promise <3
Fun little concept! I feel like the jumping feels a bit "heavy" at times and i'm not sure if this is what you were going for, but interesting mechanic and cool gameplay :)
Glad you like it!
Yeah, I never get the jump "feeling" right. I personally don't like it being too floaty and made some tweaks to make it fall faster, but I can see that it has some room for improvement yet.
Thank you!
Please - make it full release. Your game is one of those rare gamejam productions which present quality of best indie games available at all biggest game stores on consoles and pc. The depth hidden in multiple mechanics connected with coins, tricky level design, pleasant graphics, music matching to mood and artstyle. I'm amazed. Great work. Love it. Worth more than one coin :)
Thank you so much! I like to think that this has potential too, but I don't know if, with my current design abilites, I could take it a step further. But I can try!
