Great first person!! Really great experience :)

Made it to the end on my second run, the first time I was a bit confused and didn't realize I had spooky-vision bound to E!

I feel like you nailed the aesthetics, I appreciated the nicely degraded textures and draw distance, plus the first person weapons were nice with cool reload animations. Oh and the soundtrack was very nice too.

If I had to pick one thing that could be improved I think it'd just be the UI elements for interacting with things. There were a number of occasions where I was unable to pick up a weapon or redeem an objective for several tries. Not sure what was causing the bug, but these things happen in a jam! If you also did a nice job with the lower screen UI, so seeing that in the 'press F to do x' text too would have been nice.

 Overall really nice work :)

Glad you enjoyed it! :)) Yeah there is an issue with interacting occasionally where it doesn't register every attempt for some reason? We still haven't been able to figure it out but are still working on it.

The zombies spooked me too many times. I really like the original game and i think you did a good job at capturing the Hunt Showdown essence. Makes me want to go play the original.

Developer

Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it! :))

Amazing Jam submission. Super authentic. Funny enough, it brought back all sorts of memories have the Y Axis locked. Phenomenal job here! I'm not a fan of horror games, but I'm a fan of your work. Nicely done.

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Means a lot to our team that you said that, this is our first game jame and actually one of our first projects ever so I'm glad you enjoyed it :))

Wow! I'd have never guessed it was your first Jam! Excited to see what comes next from you guys.

Awesome work here! I think my favourite bit here was how you implemented the Side Effects theme which really upped the difficulty when I accidentally got flanked by zombies during the Butcher fight. Also, love those creepy cornfields :3

Developer(+1)

Thank you!! Glad you liked it, it's  a shame the cornfields had to be toned down a bit for the webgl build but the windows build captures our original vision for it, which is indeed pretty spooky!

Neat game! I found the map a bit large, but "E" helped to find the right path. :)

Developer

Yeah I tried combatting that in the update I made last night by boosting the players speed a bit to make the map feel a bit smaller but maybe the boost wasn't enough of a temporary fix.

I didn't read the controls and took me a while to realise 'E' shows me where to go... My bad haha. Really neat game though. I didnt end up seeing what the butcher looked like, I dared not get too close and just circled from afar shooting him. I think it would have been a different story if I had to fight him inside the building... was the fight meant to happen in there? Great job anyway!

Developer

The fights randomly happen at a clue location you haven't been to yet to keep replays a bit more fun and interesting!

Died against the butcher :D The crossboom might be buggy, but is still pretty effective. Really good job on making it feel retro.

For constructive criticism I would say the map is too large and I couldn't tell that I was getting damaged during the butcher fight. In contrast to that it is very obvious when you get damaged by the zombies.

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Glad you liked it! I think the butcher leech's not causing the damage effect on the player is a bug that slipped through our fingers, Thank you for pointing it out I'll add that and a map adjustment to our trello! :)

Developer(+1)

This is all fixed in the latest build! And crossboom is fully functional!!
