I really like the concept, but hoo boy this one is Nintendo Hard. The best I managed to do was 3 full baskets, but things get chaotic so fast. I definitely think with a lot of practice one could get good at this game, and I'd love to see like, a competition between radish masters haha. Overall I think it captures a lot of "era feel" for better and worse, but great job overall
I do enjoy the idea, I love falling block type puzzle games, but man... it's just a hair too clunky for me to really sit down with.
I sorta would rather have either the person controls/swap controls be separate, or have the swapper be tied to the player position. That might also solve the problem I have with expecting to be able to swap with the edge of the field.
Also there was a small bug where I restarted too quickly and the music overlapped. Once I failed and restarted again the music reset properly though. Nothing too bad though.
I think the inspiration is on the 80's MS-DOS games and you make it good!
The music and sound effects are very similar with 80's games and are perfect with your game style.
The graphics are awsome! You make it good with propused limtations.
The gameplay is fluid and works very well. It's little hard at the beggining, but it's not hard to understand how it works, off course, like an 80's game.
Congrats, friend! I think you realy understand the purpose of the "Era "feel"" and made a great game!
This is fun and challenging, but I think it would have benefited from more responsive controls on the "turntable". The game has a very fast pace and the turntable animations feel like the biggest obstacle to victory. In particular when I needed to move the "gap" to the opposite side.
The core gameplay is brilliant. And the visuals and sound are very authentic to the arcade era.
The game is called "Radish Master," yet I am a Four Vegetable Lord.
I can tell it's good game because it divides my brain several times over in a single playthrough. Applying a dual purpose mechanic to direction input seemed trivial at the start... but I later realized that managing the basket and my hatperson at the same time is the heart of the game. You must eat your greens and like it to succeed.
I assume this game is inspired by real life events. Points lost in the category of Verisimilitude for lack of pests and plant-based pestilence.
The combination of different mechanics here makes this much more than a regular match-3. The switching basket positions at the bottom reminds me of Yoshi for NES, but you decide when and where you want to drop the vegetables. There's a lot of fast-paced thinking involved, especially as the game picks up in speed, and I found myself getting really into it. It also doesn't hurt that the presentation is excellent- the animation on the harvester character is smooth, the sprites all look nice and colourful, the audio is totally era-appropriate, and it all comes together to make a fun and addicting game. Excellent work guys!
