Title
Bass chords
Description
idk what to say, this song is quite random just like my instrument choice. I heavily relied on the different articulations of each instrument to try to make the most out of them. Worktime on this project is less than 3 hours.
Instruments used
double bass +3
acoustic guitar +4
cello +5
tuned percussion +4
triangle -1

I love the slower start this took to get fully into the piece, gives you more time to enjoy the instruments and buildup rather than just rushing to the point. If this were used in a trailer for a game/movie/etc. this would be an amazing way to reveal it.
My only wish is that there was more to the song, it ends so abruptly right when it sounds like it's getting to the best part :(
You used many of my favorite instruments in this one. Love the use of the vibraphone, bass, and cello. Great tonal shifts, and nice mixing!
The vibe going from a bit upbeat and spunky to dramatic was really well done - a tone shift like that is super difficult. The acoustic guitar sounds great too! Loved this one. Feels like the start of a hero's journey.
Pretty nice song :)
Especially that guitar is really nice, is it midi or live played? If it is midi, wow, midi guitars don’t always sound that good.
Midi :) I used the Ample Guitar M vst
Honestly, it was very refreshing to just listen to a "random" song like this, without having to imagine a theme or expect a progression. I like the simplicity of this, and actually, the themes follow each other up very nicely. They are all diverse yet don't sound off. Also, I love the acoustic guitar! Especially 1:30 onward, it sounds so good and the strumming is lovely (Musescore 3 only has 'arpeggios' which don't really sound like a strum). Great song to end with!
Oh, and I have to ask: did you let triangle be worth -1 coins because you ended up with 16 coins for your instrumentation and did not want to leave an instrument out? You're the boss after all! xD
nope using a triangle in random songs is an inside joke in the discord server, so I just made it so that people can use it for a free coin :)
Insane quality strings in my opinion. I love this track - especially with the sunset/sunrise theme. I think the acoustic guitar was a great addition to piece, giving cozy, warm vibes. The writing is excellent as well! This is one of my favorites.
Didn't really know what to expect from this one after reading your description. But the cello had a nice little melody. And the tuned percussion had a very nice progression. All of the instruments work very well together and felt exactly right, nothing felt out of place. You utilized your points very well, and utilized the instruments even better. Great job!
A dramatic sound. Almost feel the plot out of it. Love how agressive the guitar is.
I like this a lot! I especially like how the harmonies never let you quite 'land' anywhere, it's always a mystery where we're headed, which makes it a lot of fun to listen to. Great job!
On a side note, thanks so much for hosting these challenges, I learned a ton from composing with the monthly challenges and listening to everyone's submissions. It was a great experience, and also the most fun I've had composing in a while. I really appreciate it.
What's that I see up there? 16/16 coins used?
people are gonna get confused because we can only use 15 coins which you did do properly by adding the triangle to reduce it to 15 coins used but out of 16 makes it look like there were 16 to start with. not to mention that you put 16/16 which is both not allowed and not mathematically accurate to your totals.
The vibraphone was my favorite part because I adore mallets.
gonna fix that real quick xd
