Title
Hexatone
Description
I wanted to try the whole tone scale. It's a very difficult scale, so I had to add a second exotic scale: Hindu scale (dominant aeolian or myxolydian b6). The two scales are very similar and allow me to switch from one to the other quite fluidly.
The difficulty lies in the absence of simple chords in the whole tone scale. The only "normal" chord I had access to was the dominant without a fifth (tonic, major third and minor seventh).
With the very mechanical and regular aspect of this scale, I imagined a robot. And as there are 6 notes, I called it a hexatone.

Really like the danceable groove and the instruments are well mixed together and form a whole.
Thank you very much for your comment. I had a hard time finding the balance in the mix, so if you liked it, I'm all the happier for it.
There are so many layers of detail that make this sound good. Nice job!
Thanks for noticing the details. I did place little ear candies here and there. I had the time and it amused me.
Really well composed as always, with great flow and a variety of fun ideas! The sections with the whole tone scale are a nice touch, mixing it up a bit and introducing a new feel and texture to the piece. I appreciate how your music and melody is made in a way to showcase the unique properties of each scale, it's overall just great!
Thank you very much! From such a fine composer, I'm very flattered.
The whole tone break in the middle of the track is amazing, it gave me a feeling of suspension, of uncertainty, which is a perfect contrast with the more "heroic" part you made with the Hindu scale. It was a wise choice to use both, otherwise you would have missed an opportunity to create such a strong variation. Since everything is so good, if I really have to point something out, I think that the brass-like instrument gets a bit too loud and "in your face" in the mix, and the continuous play with the pan in whole tone part can get a bit annoying after some time. But still, the track is amazing!
Thank you very much for your specific feedback. I agree with you about the brass instrument. Maybe I should have EQ'd it a little better. I'm still learning :)
This gives me big terraria vibes! The chorus get a bit too bass heavy for my ears, but that might just be me. Great track!
Thanks, after listening again, it's true that the bass is a bit heavy.
This is going to be super specific but the part at 1:10 with the 5 ascending notes sounds exactly like a song from Super Paper Mario but I cannot remember which one.
Similarly, the part exactly after that sounds very similar to a song from A Link To The Past that I also can't remember.
I haven't played any Paper Mario, so I don't have the reference, but if some of my games can be found in Nintendo titles, that's a pretty good sign :)
