This was honestly, just overall super fun. Great gameplay, not a lot of bugs, some of course, but not too game breaking. My favourite is of course, the kraken itself. 10/10 would get krakened again
Dredge vibes, but in all the best ways. Super cool game with a brilliant loop that had me properly hooked. After upgrading my hull enough, I set sail for deep sea Eldritch horrors... and quickly got more than I bargained for! Controls are smooth, and the models are fantastic. I encountered a small bug where dying between playthroughs wouldn't reset my upgrades, otherwise, you guys have done some great work!!
A game with a pun for the name? Most excellent.
I love the concept. I think it works extremely well for the theme, especially as someone who has a genuine fear of the ocean. There's so much to it, such vastness, and it's a great illustration of risk vs reward - there's much to discover, but ... well, there's also much to *encounter*. xD
And, well, I found that out first hand as I was thoroughly beaten and bullied by a kraken and shark. xD
All the best with the jam!!
Pretty cool idea and fits the theme well. Loved the interactions between the fish and monsters with the ship. Would've loved some 'jaws' like music or something to add to the tension. Overall I liked it a lot. Well done!
- This game was fun. I played a bunch. The shark jumping over the boat to attack it was amusing and the tentacles coming up kraken style were a great touch.
- I felt that the boat was initially too tanky for the dangerous water as I was able to get back to safety without much effort. Could have been cool to have some kind of boost features with a stamina or limited bar.
- Didn't notice much of a difference to speed with the engine upgrade.
- I found the coastal zone and pelagic zone to be a bit too easy to fish in. Could be interesting to make them a bit harder at the Coastal zone and Pelagic zone as everything up to the Benthic zone is quite doable with no upgrades. I managed to get to the Benthic zone, grab a couple of fish and leave without dying with zero upgrades.
- Overall a pretty fun game. Interesting way to integrate the theme.
Bugs:
- Spamming the spacebar to drop and pick up the net makes the game show you are still in the zone in which you started spamming it in. It switches to displaying the correct zone once you stop spamming it.
- The fish caught counter seems to not be displaying what I caught. Checked before and after selling and both were 0. You can see your fish in fishmonger though
- When you die and replay it doesn't reset your Total Money, Current Balance or Upgrades.
Loved the look of the game, the idea is great and it fits the theme very well. Had a few issues, i couldnt figure out how to actually get any fish, i tried dropping the net and waiting in multiple zones not sure if it is a glitch or if im just being dumb XD. Also encountered 2 glitches where after i had died once and clicked play again my health was at 0/100 and i was immune to damage. Also after reopening the game to fix that glitch i then died to the kraken but instead of actually dying the kraken just set my health to 0 and i was once again immune to damage.
