Well made game! I included it in my compilation video series of the ‘So Bad It’s Good’ Jam, if you’d like to take a look. :)

Nice game, I enjoy to play it.

I got up to the rocky area and couldn't go further, because there was no teleporter to the next level (that, or it malfunctioned). That said, I like the music.

Host

Really nice shooter/bullet hell game. Had a lot of fun trying it. Perfect difficulty to the point where I died a couple of times, but never got frustrated. Overall a very solid entry!

Nice job on getting something finished and submitted.
The game was pretty difficult, but had a nice charm to it.

Good work!

Great fun! Love the graphics style and the music.  My favourite part was when the boss messages kicked me out of fullscreen and then I ended up clicking outside the game window and starting another application on my desktop by accident and then scrambling to get the game back up before my health ran out and then the other application put its loading screen over the game so I couldn't see what I was doing.  If all of that was intentional then you deserve an award.

I've decided to try using a standard format for all my feedback this time around. Please excuse me if I come across as overly curt or miss something important about your game. I'm writing these all quite hastily as there are a lot of games in the jam this year!

What I liked

The graphics. They're dirt simple, but charming.

For the most part, the gameplay. It's a simple top-down shooter but it's time-tested and it works.

What I didn't like

The difficulty.

I wish it had some story because I like story, but I'm kinda on the fence about this because it's not strictly needed.

Did I think it was so bad it was good?

No. To be honest, this one frustrates me, because it would be a charming little shooter without the insane difficulty. The graphics are simple, but they have tons of charm somehow, and aren't bad at all. The sounds could be a little nicer, but with the graphics the somewhat lo-fi sound works. The gameplay at its heart is simple but solid.

My thoughts on the modifier implementation

As I've said, it would have been a better game without it. With the difficulty backed off a bit and a winnable boss fight

Other notes

The difficulty was cranked higher than I'd like but really only became a problem once I hit the boss fight as it was usually possible to kill or bypass enemies through degenerate strategies or exploits.

Verdict

I enjoyed this game and I feel it has more potential being fixed up as a good game than as a so bad it's good game.
