I would suggest to add an indicator (like a minor change in size or an animation) if a hole is currently open. (and the indication stops, as soon as the time window in which points could fly in is over) This would make the game feel more responsive and would make it easier to understand how the game mechanics are timed.
I dont really understand what you mean by that, and im unsure how well that would scale in harder charts.
But thank you for the feedback, ill consider it as an option maybe.
Lol that was funny.
I love the music that plays, it makes you feel good and really motivated for the challenge, and it's funny because it sounds a bit like K-pop or anime.
To be honest, I beat your score Skunkinator, but I am really not sure how to play the game lol.
Press the keyboard as fast as you can when the orbs arrive?
Is that the rule?
I had a lot of fun playing it in any case, and well done for a 3 day game jam!
(I gave you 5/5 stars, simply out of respect for how well you wrecked my own game! ;) )
The rule is to press one of the keys (asdf) left hole,(jkl;) right hole in time to when the orbs get absorbed. the colour particles give a clue as to how well you timed it (blue is best). if multiple orbs arrive at the same time you can press multiple keys at the same time.
oh ok that makes sense!
For some reason I thought jkl is an abbreviation of something, but I noticed when I pressed the buttons, the colors changed so I kept doing it.
Okay nice, fun game.
And combos get interrupted when you press when the orb is too far away or didn't press at all right?
yes combo gets interrupted in those 2 cases, and red particles are emitted. also the inputs are chosen in a way so that you can use up to 4 fingers on each side ";" is the 4th key on US keyboard layout right next to the "L"
Unlike Osu, here I at least caught some score. :D
The game is simple enjoyable and is made in Godot Engine, what can I say. Great job!
thanks alot for the feedback!
hoping that i can make it grow bigger after jam
Very good game! The controls could be better but I enjoyed the music.
Thanks for the feedback, i will add in better UI controlls, and rebindable keys for the main game after the jam.
Could make for great coop of sorts with a friend, music even if it wasnt really my thing was still good, the theme while subtle is pretty neat, the graphics look quite good too but it gets a bit hard to focus on both sides if youre playing alone. Great game.
Thanks alot for the feedback!
as said on previous posts i will continue updating this game after jam.
The game was good. But when I tried to play for the second time the buttons didn't work. Also I could not find the leaderboard. Music was very good.
The leaderboard is shown on the left side in the song selection menu.
I have never felt that bug myself with the keys, could you elaborate a bit more on what happened there?
Well, I played game and came back to main menu. Then when I again selected play button it didn't work.
the play button is disabled untill its received all the http requests from lootlocker which is there to fix some errors that would happen internally, so just give it like half a minute and the button should work fine, same thing goes for setting different songs, which you can more easily tell if its ready when the scores have all loaded/overwritten
Its my bad on the implementation, which should be fixed after jam
Btw im unsure, but have you rated the game?
Yes.
As a huge fan of rhythm games, I enjoyed trying to learn this game! I found it quite difficult to focus on both 'orbs' since they are far apart from each other, but after a while I managed to score 41,000 on Dragonborn (Nice choice of music, btw).
Very nice to see a rhythm game! With some polishing this could be very addicting! Nice job!
Thanks a lot for the comment and the nice words.
I will definitely polish up and add custom level support to this game after the jam rating is done!
+: concept, music
-: ui, graphics
thanks for the feedback, sadly i needed to block the ui due to the network code not being quite good.
graphics wise ill update the notes look, but otherwise probably keep the idea.
alright, good luck with development
It's very unusual to see a rhythm game on this jam, very cool! I managed to get around 18000 points)
Thank you.
The game also contains multiple maps, dragonbprn being the easiest as a 5 star map.
Defintely a really cool idea for a rhythm game, but I find it really hard to focus on both sides (I have a 27 inch monitor and I really have to constantly use peripheral vision). I think having a more central view area would be very helpful. Also, sometimes it seems like the keys dont work and I have to start using different ones mid map... not sure why. Pretty cool either way, very rare to see a rhythm game in a jam!
Thanks for the feedback!
We will improve the game after the jam for more ease of use!
next time try something like undyne’s fight
Nice to see a rythm game here! And definitely a solid one for a 72 hours jam. But it was waaay to hard for us, the dragonborn level was the only one we were able to "beat".
Thanks alot for the feedback!
We plan on improving this game after the game jam voting is done. with more easier + playable levels and also an actually functioning options screen
