I'm sorry, but my internet connection will take 2.5 hours to download 3 gigs. I can't rate this... :(
Ooh, I'm sorry to hear that!
Yesterday when I saw your comment I tried many things the game a lighter build, but unfortunately, I couldn't reduce its size :(
it's ok, if i ever have a better connection, i will definitely play this!
I feel the environment is way to dark. It makes it hard to remember where I've been and to figure out where to go next and because of the fixed camera angles its even more disorienting.
I liked the fixed camera angles I feel you did them well. The voice acting was decent.
Overall a decent game, especially since you said its the first you've taken seriously.
Yeah, that was my first serious game hahah (beside a project I’m working for steam, but currently frozen since I don’t have time for it).
I’m sorry for the ambient been too dark… as I stated in the previous comment, in my monitor it was already too bright, and I didn’t had enough time to add an options menu! That really is something that will keep an eye in my next projects! Overall, I’ll be looking to improve this since I’m thinking about keep up with the project!
Thanks for your review!! Appreciate it!
The game has a nice atmosphere going and the confusing layout of the house really bring out that "dream-like" feeling. The camera viewpoints were always pretty clear too, I could basically at all times tell the whole room's layout and where you could go and could not go in the room, well I could have most times if it wasn't so dark. I think my main problem is the rather unfriendly design towards the player, which is almost pitch black environment tied with the flashbang white cutscenes. I totally get the idea, but having to play with full brightness just to make out where the character is and then getting surprised by pure white is straining to eyes. I do however appreciate the detail in movement, how it kept your direction on a camera switch. I also kinda wished there was more puzzle elements, but time constraints are understandable and I liked the final puzzle, kinda checked if you were paying attention the to story :D
Overall, the game has potential in the puzzle mechanics and it had some good moments (catching a glimpse of the monster walking in the hallway and the TV turning on), additionally I respect having two endings. I encourage you to continue the development ^^I think dwelling deeper into the dream-like aspects of the story, you could make this into a horror-filled experience. Regardless, good work!
Oh, thanks a lot for your review and showing your thoughts!! This really encourage me a lot to make this a complete game!!
At the beginning I was thinking about every flashback been related to a puzzle(like the first one), but at the final hours of the Jam I decided to polish more the game, develop the end and, unfortunately, cutoff the puzzles… And even this way I almost couldn’t upload my game in time xD
About the ambient been too dark, I think there’s something to be with my monitor, since for me the game was already too bright xD I’ll look for it in the next versions and probably add a option in the menu to change the brightness, since I didn’t had time for this either! Probably I’ll find out a way to fix the flashbacks too.
Good to know that you’ve noticed and liked details like keeping the movement directions, I had a hard time figuring out how to make the controls smooth!!
Once again thank you so much for your review! I’ve felt really happy and motivated reading this! And for sure I want to put more effort in this game!
Glad to hear that! Good luck in the future ^^ And yeah, time limits create challenges and problems, so I kinda figured that some things weren't in the possibilities in such a time frame.
Now that you said it too, it could be also my monitor being too dark, but regardless it might be a good idea to try and see if you can implement some sort of option to change the darkness level since monitor differences can be unpredictable.
Anyways, no prob, I tend to do lot of game-testing so I sometimes might be little too backseat developing, but glad to see you had some use for my "review" hehe! Good work once again!
Cool story and nice atmosphere! I enjoyed this. I only struggled a little bit with the controls at first. Good job!
Thank you so much for your review! Nice to know you've liked it!
if anyone got the good ending; what's the story?
Thanks for playing! If you want to try the good ending by yourself, there's a final "secret" flashback, which explains a little more of the story and the end! You just have to solve the last puzzle without entering the wrong door more than twice + run towards the monster (to fight him) in the red room. But if you just want to know what happens, here's the story:
SPOILER AHEAD:
First, there's another flashback of her husband telling her to forgive herself, and trying to convince her that something is not her fault. With this, the games ends with the explanation:
Alex finally woke up from her nightmare, only to discover that she had been in a car accident. This tragic event claimed the lives of both her husband and children and left her in a coma for several days. Thanks to her memories, she found the strength to return to life and face another day.
Great game. The camera work in this game is really good and it looks great overall. the controlles where a bit wonky at times but it wasn't that bad. also the story was great. My pc did not like the game since it had trouble running it, but that's my problem not the games. It actually feels like a real game.
Great game. Keep it up♥
Thanks so much for your review! This really keep me inspired and motivated
I've tried my best with the controllers haha The first build was alot worse!
About your pc having trouble with it, that's a serious problem when using Unreal 5 for a Jam I think... Unreal is beaultiful, but takes a lot of time to otimize the game, and sadly, I didn't have enough time for it.
Btw, I'm planning to play your game again today, I've played yesterday but I was so tired to got through the puzzles hahaha As soon as I play it will review it (spoiler: I've loved your style)!
Great game! The camera choice gives it a Resident Evil feel. Goes well with the theme :)
Thanks for the review!
Resident Evil is one of my favorite games, ever, and I really like this style!
Good to know that you liked it!
Thx for playing!
really nice story, good atmosphere and story. really well rounded!
Thanks for playing and reviewing, I really appreciate it!
Very interesting concept. Liked the environment and overall atmosphere. The controls can be pretty frustrating at first but it only takes some getting used to. I really enjoyed this submission!
Glad You've liked!
The controls I admit it's a little frustranting even for me who loves games with fixed camera... But I've tried my best to make them as smooth as possible! Thx for your comment!
Very nice overall experience. Got me immersed all the way to the end.
Happy to hear that!
Thanks for your review!
The game looks very polished! I like the fact that the gameplay is story-driven, and not centered around combat. Interaction with different objects in order to solve puzzles is very well implemented. Great first jam game! 👍🏻
Thanks for your review! This makes me inspired to keep going with this and other projects!
Has I mentioned in the other comment, I wanted to implement even more puzzles to drive the story, but I've ended up focusing on polishing the game, so the players have a more smooth experience! Glad you noticed that too!
Well, another Unreal submit! I am not the only one!! Good atmosphere, interesting puzzles! Will you expand it? Please, do so!
Yeah, of course! I really want to keep working on the game and finish it, there's a lot I want to add! The main goal was to create five main puzzles, one for each flashback on the game, but this ended taking much more time than I thought, so for the Jam I just added the flashbacks and kept the first and last puzzle.
Good to see other Unreal submits! I'll play yours too!
Thx!!!
