Hi! Cool little experience. To say something new, regarding the sound design, a constant sounding loop in the background would help a lot to emphasize the atmosphere and boost a ton the random sound scares you already have in the game. Nice twist, lol!

Haha thanks!

Hey JIMAO!

This is a fun little experience with some great atmosphere that definitely ends in a way I did not expect -- haha!

A couple notes after playing:

  • Like others have said, the movement speed is definitely too slow. I think just a hair faster would have helped a lot, but I understand that the experience itself is rather short so doing that might make the game a bit too short.
    • I did manage to find a workaround to the speed though by walking diagonally (guessing it is literally just boosting the speed to 1.4 since that would be diag motion vector)
  • Would have loved it if the jump scares were not just audio based but actually threw things in front of you momentarily or if there were things that appeared at the end of a hallway and then the lights would flicker and it would disappear -- things to think about if you continue development!

What I liked:

  • The sound design was spooky and the jump scares cause by them were pretty effective right up until the end where I started to get used to them.
  • I liked the CRT screenspace shader you are using -- definitely tone down the chromatic aberration though because it was a little excessive
  • The maps helped a lot because there was one point where I accidentally flicked my mouse and got turned around -- truly is a maze if you get yourself turned around in there!

Great job! Hope you continue development on it after the jam :D

The setting was great and the atmosphere was well made, The movement speed could definitely be increased tho.

Thanks for your reminding. :)

I love how spooky the environment is. You're walking through a brick maze with occasional lights and no one around you. I expected a jumpscare in the middle of the maze or when I reached the infamous tiny pipe-like section of level 3 of "Scary Maze Game."

One thing I would improve on is to make the character move faster. I was holding shift or space and hoping that my character would have the ability to run.

So the visuals and audio were really good, I enjoyed that. My original feedback based off level 1 and 2 was going to highlight that they were too long and not very engaging and then I got to level 3... I instantly knew what it was and the throwback entertained me immensely, a little disappointed you changed the ending. Overall if you took the positives from my first point, you have a really solid horror theme to work with.

Also the head bobbing gave strong goofy vibes:

Your advice is great.

The game is indeed a bit lengthy.XD

I really enjoy the VHS effect of the camera, the concept is pretty eerie, and got my heart goin a bit there. I think the head bob was pretty extreme and I am thinking that for my head to bob that far up and down I gotta have a wonky neck, so maybe could be a bit less. In a fun speedrunning glitch I found though is that when you walk diagonally you walk quite faster, which was a fun find. Overall pretty solid stuff, I enjoyed it quite a bit!

Thx a lot, ;)
