This is actually my first game jam! I am very honored to be making games alongside so many talented horror game enjoyers.

It was a ton of fun! Id love to check out your game, can you drop a link? Here is mine: https://itch.io/jam/scream-jam-2023/rate/2318352

Sure will!

And I'll gladly check yours out.

Please be honest of what you think.

I will! and I would appreciate the same! Even if the game is just terrible!

NONESENSE! It is charming, like a classic horror should be.

Though, I had some minor trouble with the well cutscene, it trapped me in a loop.

But the sound design and level layout have had a lo of effort poured into it. I can tell.

All in all, keep it up! I would love to see you continue to work on it. Even after the jam.

Submitted

could you describe how you got into the loop and how it looked like?

Submitted

Of course!

I simply ran out of the court area where it took place, and then my UI disappeared and the scene kept replaying.

I have no expertise in the area of unity, but do you suppose deleting the assets used for the scene afterwards would help?

Sorry if that sounds ignorant, I have only ever used GDevelop.

well, that's weird. But the UI should dissapear. We'll look into that issue later.

And in unity you use timeline for cutscenes etc, so it works a bit diffrently

Submitted

I am aware of the intent for the UI to disappear, but it simply stays gone. Even after the scene is over.

Oh, that's good to know. Thanks!

Submitted

Of course, I know you would do the same for me.

Submitted

Thank you! and thank you for letting us know about that bug. That is certainly weird. Could you move after the cutscene?

My first jam as a solo dev :D very different feelings

How so?

More exciting. Games for previous jams were made with colleagues from work so it was a very different vibe for that reason (that being work) + there was much less of "me" in that + when you do something alone from nothing... i dunno i feel like im cool rn even if my game is not perfect at all hahaha

My first jam too! Actually , it's also my first game I've ever made too. It's crazy how it goes by so fast, but I also can't believe it's only been a week! Your game looks super interesting, I've downloaded it and plan to try it soon. Here's mine if you'd like to try it! https://seedborne.itch.io/sylvan-shadows

Many thanks!

I have played yours as well, I absolutely love these kinds of styled games.

Though, I am terrible at them. Great game! Keep it up.

Submitted

Ah, another person sharing his first experience! This jam is the first I've programmed solo. I'll be checking your game! Here's mine if you want to try:
