The main idea is very creative , sound design is pretty neat. Controlling the compass is very frustrating, I kept dying bcs i couldn't rotate the compass in the direction i wanted head towards. I appreciate the creativity and your effort but you need to work on gameplay some more. Good luck on your future projects!

Developer(+1)

Thenks for playing! Compass do not control the movement, it just shows where would you go if you press W A S D, so just for clarity. But yes, that was not the best idea to make it this way.

Submitted

I understand that the compass doesn't control the character,  the problem is i can't rotate the compass in the right direction. For example i get close to the beast and screen turns red, this is a cue that tells me i need to head towards a different direction, i try to change the direction by moving mouse but the mouse control is not precise so it turns the compass in  a different direction than i want it to turn and i die everytime bcs of that

Developer

Thanks for the feedback, I will try to make controls more intuitive!:)
The right "move" in that scenario is just moving back (pressing S) but that may be contrintuitive because of the compass. Didn't succeed in "emulating" 3d in 2d :(

Ok, from the start- I always try my bast to play as many jam games as I can. The one's that commented on my game are absolutely a must. However life happened, and just today I noticed I haven't played the game of first guy who commented on mine.

At first I thought that a game without graphics is going to be lazy. BOY WAS I WRONG!

Not only you used every ounce of sound design you could, and topped it off with great voice acting, you also tied it together with atmospheric narrative.

The graphics are sparse, but good- this game isn't about graphics anyway :)

This is the best game in this jam I've played so far. That being said- some improvement feedback is always welcome, so here's mine. I would add 3d sound (in this game it would be the best thing, and when the threat appears, I'd prefer for the screen to get redder on the side of the threat- for people without great headphones.

In the end- I'll probably return to this one. It's one to take in, in a darkened room with headphones, without my daughter playing harmonica :)

Over all- amazing work!

Developer

Thanks! You improved my mood for an evening :) It is really nice words.
I spent almost a day trying to implement some kind of stereo/3d sound, but didn't succeed (it is my first code ever lol) sadly. It would change a lot :0
Your game I played the first day and after days of voting  it's still one of the most interesting ones.

The voice acting was crisp. nice aesthetics

Developer(+1)

Thanks a lot for playing! I did hope you will check my game:)

No problem! Good luck

Really great concept, definitely unique. I loved it!

Developer

Thanks a lot!

10/10

The concept, as simple as it seems, is very well executed!

I cannot say I beat the game, as I had died right at the fire.

But all in all I hope to see this expanded on! Perhaps a new entity or something.

Developer(+1)

Well, if you sound the fire, it is true ending there:) Thanks a lot for playing!

I like the concept and the idea but I couldn't work it out how the compass works so the experience was a bit frustrating. Nice aestethics and sound design.

Developer

Hi! thanks for playing. Compass has "W, A, S, D" written on it's arrows and just shows where would you go if you pressed those keys.

Really cool and unique approach to the theme, love it.

Great voice acting.

Developer

Thanks a lot!

The concept is so cool and your execution is perfect!! I personally love experimentation in the horror genre. Sound and aesthetics are like so creepy and beautiful <33

Developer

Thank you! Jams are made for experiments, I think:)

Submitted(+1)

The gameplay was a bit frustrating. I did like the style of the game though, and the voice was really good, well done!

Submitted(+2)

Wow! I really like the idea. it's so interesting that the game works mainly with one channel of the player's senses. Focusing almost exclusively on hearing was an amazing experience. I would really like the game to be able to be deployed to full screen - the desktop at the back spoils the atmosphere of horror a little. And I had a little problems with the compass (turns badly), but this game is still very cool Amazing work, especially with sounds)

Developer

Thanks for playing! Compass has W A S D written on it's arrows and just shows where would you go if you pressed those keys. I tried to emulate "3D movement" but failed, sadly :()

Very interesting concept, the compass would probably work better if it was fullscreen, otherwise Great work!

Developer

Thanks! Compass was a mistake, I guess, it has W A S D written on it and just shows where would you go if those keys were pressed. It was for "emulating 3D movement" but I failed I guess haha :,(

Really enjoyed that one, the voice acting, the stone etching style visuals, the fairytale vibe... The compass was causing me issues but everything else was absolutely on point and I did reach the end on the second try!

Developer(+1)

I'm glad you reached the ending, I worked hard on it ;)

Submitted(+1)

Amazing voice acting and sound design it was really trippy. The only thing was the compass that was problematic, it was hard to read and it was hard to tell if you were going well. But overall, a very interesting idea for the game.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the nice words! Compass has W A S D written on it's arrows and just shows where would you go if you pressed those keys. It does not read well sadly :(

Submitted (1 edit) (+1)

That was interesting! I really like jam games trying diffrent things :] Only negative i can say is that  it was hard to deduce where i was going and the compass was kinda hard to read. Sound design was incrediable and because there are no visuals they helped a lot in terms of setting the atmosphere and the mood. This game is what i want to see in jams! Great work well done :D

Developer

I thing game jams are a perfect place for experimenting and trying weird and different stuff!

Yes, I agree with you, game lacks difficulty control, but I didn't manage to implement that in time (I tried and failed because I'm very new to coding hehe)

Thank you!

Great voice acting and sound design, really good job!

Developer

Thank you very much!

Submitted(+1)

Very good, I like The fear of the unknown aesthetic :)

Developer(+1)

Thank you! I do too :)

Submitted(+1)

This is cool! It was really unique and the voice in particular is excellent. I chronologically made it in a decent way but I wasn't sure how much progress I was actually making. I agree with the comment below that fullscreen would have improved the experience, but I think even having the window capture the mouse cursor would have helped - a lot of the difficulty i had was learning how to turn the compass by looping my mouse around the game window

Developer

Yep, not adding fullscreen was my mistake. Thanks for playing and feedback!

Really good sound design. Great narrative. Very unique!

Developer

Thank you!

I didn't have any words during the livestream that was great something i've never seen before. Like the other said great sound design, but the narrative was eerie too, gave me goosbumps. It did took some warming up though but glad I kept going.

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Thank you for such a nice comment! I'm glad my voice acting is doing it's job :D (Checked your livestream, thanks for sincere emotions)
