Theme Explanation
This game uses multiple different kinds of light sources in order to navigate through the manor and discover the solutions to the puzzles within. They are also used to protect yourself from the threats inside the manor.

I've chosen to use the limitation #2 - The player can only see what is illuminated. I've used this to help create a moody, atmospheric horror game that WILL succeed in making you jump.

It will become evident very quickly how this game relates to the theme of Light and Shadows - you won't be disappointed!

First of all, I really like the design of the character, but I had a big problem figuring out what I should do. For example, I found a key, opened a door, but there was nothing inside, and I just walked around with no clear goal.

One thing I really liked was the light produced by the thunder, which adds a lot to the game.

This could be so much better if there were more signs showing what you're supposed to do, or some kind of indicators letting me know where I should go.

You're absolutely right. I needed to find a clearer way to usher players to the different light sources. Then, I needed to make it clear that you can light your torch, and use your lit torch to light candles. Then, somehow indicate that there is puzzles attached to lighting the candles.

it was pretty funny seeing that the little guy only change expression after a jumpscare and not the writings in invisible ink lol. definitely a game that has much much more potential than it looks but it was admittedly pretty tedious and confusing to navigate a really big space. the mystery and atmosphere is definitely there with the lighting and sound design and the mechanic of the UV light but it can get a little frustrating not exactly having a clear goal or way to progress. (i do love the walking animation and the ghost art tho haha)

i really do appreciate the narrative and creative direction!! sets it apart from the other entries. good job :)

Thanks for your feedback! I appreciate the kind words.

Looking back, a few things I would definitely change:

-make the UV light cone a little bigger, so you don't have to explore quite so thoroughly

-make it so the clues you're looking for are less ambiguous, and maybe make the solutions significantly clearer.

-make the rooms in the mansion a little more diverse, so exploring felt a little more exciting.

The goal was to make the player explore the spooky mansion, and I think it was a success in that regard! Unfortunately, the delivery seemed to miss the mark for some people based on the points you mentioned.

great game, but i just can't go past getting uv flashlight

jumpscare was a bit out of place for my taste, the whole game is goofy horror, it's something between earie and funny. but then there's this somewhat  more realistic jumpscare.
also, the walking gets a bit tedious

Hey,  thanks for the feedback! I realized I made some of the symbols for the puzzles a little ambiguous and unclear, so it's a little tricky to actually get through the mansion! The answers are all in there somewhere though, I promise!
