I like the comedy in this one. And I played it several times and now I realised I’m getting close to the end of the rating period so I should finish writing this comment even though I could probably keep playing this game some more time. (Also, sorry that I use UK spelling in this comment. I moust be consistent, y’know.)

Story and theme

The story is pretty fun, and I think you did a good job with the comedy. And making “dumb” choices is at least as rewarding as making “sane” ones, which is nice.

The extras section was fun too, especially the bit about Nivienne’s wand. And I like the decisions you took while writing the script, especially the one about keeping all the characters alive.

Audio

The music seems to both fit the mood and oddly enough also the environments (I could totally see the characters dancing to that music, couldn’t you?

Art

Pretty good, and in an artstyle that goes well with comedy without looking low-effort. I also like the expressions and how you moved the sprites around. And then when they go from the forest into the bar and it just changes the background while keeping ~~Eldie’s~~ Princess Elderflower’s sprite in the same place as if she teleported there, which she probably didn’t (otherwise she could just have teleported there earlier, right?) but it felt like I was probably supposed to think of that possibility even though I was supposed to quickly figure out that that wasn’t what had happened.

And I agree with the text on the game page about the characters being cute. That’s also how I imagine Knight Cierre: clumsy but cute.

UI and accessibility

Nice UI! The moustache fits it really well. And I think a moustache might be something that’s sometimes used in comedy-related logos, but here it’s also an element in the story, which makes it work better than if it were just a symbol of comedy.

Marketing

The page seems pretty complete, with logo, summary, features, screenshots and credits. The capsule GIF shows the two most important characters (sorry Cierre and Princess Rosetta, I think Princess Elderflower and Nivienne are the main characters in this story… and I’m guessing you’re okay with me thinking so).

I really like the logline, especially with the word mustachioed. It’s clear what it means, it’s clear what genre it’s going to be, and the game is actually as good as you made it seem.

Other

What I liked most: The comedy and art.

What I’d suggest changing: I’m not sure. Perhaps you could ask the characters if they have any suggestions? But I have to write something here, right? Okay, I guess I’d suggest making that ending where everyone gets moustachioed.

[Edit: At first I thought the moustache on the UI looked different from the one on Princess Elderflower, but I think it’s the same one just under slightly different lighting.]

I know how I want to end this comment… 🧔 No, that’s not how I want it to look. It looks way too serious, and also a bit too masculine. I guess there isn’t a character I can put here. Unless there’s some alphabet that has a character that looks like a moustache. Oh, I guess I’ll just go with {

Hehehe very funny and cute. I love how Cierre can be a nervous newbie or a complete mess, idk how Cierre managed to keep their work as knight www. I love the ending which we didn't manage to get the curse broken, it's very heartwarming. And the CG for the good end when the princesses danced looked really bright and sparkly, I love it. (´▽`ʃ♡ƪ)

The character designs and the art in general are so bright, colorful, and cute! A special mention must go out to the mustache that matches Elderflower's look, complete with ribbons, and Nivienne's slime hat.

Speaking of Nivienne, I love chaotic witches like her. I support her various causes and her mission to inconvenience the monarchy. I also agree that Eldie's mustache looked great. I think I actually prefer her design with that feature, haha!

Cierre is also likable and relatable. While they might not have fully honed their skills, they have good intentions and they're trying their best, and that's what matters! Their narration made me chuckle so many times.

The music, which was very catchy, made me bob my head at various points. The GUI is very clean and pretty as well. I enjoyed looking at the character art and notes in the Extras.

For the story, I adored the light-hearted tone and the witty humor, which led to many laugh-out-loud moments. I enjoyed clicking through all the choices and seeing how they affected the story in little and not-so-little ways. I liked all four endings. (A fifth ending with a fully-mustachioed kingdom, you say? Yes, please.)

Overall, this has been the cutest and funniest Spooktober entry I've seen so far! Congrats to the team for a job wonderfully done!

Read this for Nivienne and for the future of healthcare <3

A funny short story with a cast of endearing characters. Nivienne was definitely my favorite character: I love how delightfully air-headed she is, and her gullibility made me laugh a lot. Also, I love how her familiar is her headdress - it's a cute design touch!

A fun & sweet one! The writing was on point, and one of the funniest so far! Guy-who-almost-got-hit-with-a-sword has a special place in my heart, and the which herself hits a great balance of mischief and fun. The character designs feel bright and fluffy in the best way. A really great short & snappy game - Well done!

Thank you!! I'm glad to hear the Funny hit for you, I know humor is very subjective so I was a bit worried about how mine would hold up. (Silly names on the dialogue textbox are one of my favorite jokes so I'm double glad you liked that one LMAOOOO.) The witch was so incredibly fun to write; her personality was set by our character artist, teasugarr, so major props to him for how Nivienne turned out (as well as every single character design)!

Thanks so much for playing and leaving your thoughts!

A cute game with multiple endings though it appears only one where you actually make it to the ball. It is a bit unpolished and has one problematic bug.

There is no voice acting, voice blurbs, and what little SFX is there is very quite and very few and far between. There's also very little relationship between the characters, and motivations are... silly at best. It's on par with a children's book, however there seems to be no real message to be take away. The mustache exists, and it either goes away and we see the ball, or it doesn't and we don't.

There is also a glaring bug in that there does not appear to be any way to back out of the extra's menu.  Once you click that button you're there until you close the game.  Given the lack of sound design, the oddly cut short endings, and the ability to soft lock a the game from the main menu, I can't recommend the game very highly in it's current state.  There's some cute fun to be had, but it all feels very rough and unpolished. However it is a cute little game, and the effort put into the UI commendable.

Hi there ^^ you can exit the extras screen by hitting the escape key on your keyboard, as with any other Ren'Py game. I apologize if this was unclear.

I also apologize if the lack of voice acting was offputting to you, but we made no claims of having it and chose not to include it early on in development because we knew we would not be able to implement it effectively within the time constraints of the jam.

As for the motivations being silly, well... it's a comedy game, they were meant to be pretty silly, so I'll take that as a compliment LMAO. Thanks for your feedback.
