I love spiders and I love this game. By doing the third ending I had to stop and grab some tissues.
Thank you! Glad that there are more spider lovers out there!
Short and sweet (at least for the ending I got).
The art is gorgeous - perfect for a fairy tale - and the music just complements it all.
Great job!
Thank you! The backgrounds were made by a good personal friend of mine. They were so good I was compelled to redo the character art so the aesthetics matched better!
This is is cute!
Aww
Thank you!
A cute story with excellent atmosphere. I like that the spider can still have a satisfying ending whether or not it adheres to its base nature.
Haha, thank you! Oddly, that was a big goal of mine! I'm fond of spiders, so I wanted to make a sweet story, but also didn't want to make it seem like the spider was being punished for... well.. acting like a spider!
That was a great read!! Such gorgeous illustrations and such a beautiful story. <3 I've never felt so emotionally invested in a spider before. Thank you for the fun experience!
Thank you! I'm glad the little spider was able to touch some hearts!
Such an artistic little game with beautiful storybook aesthetics for both art and writing style!
I like the attention to detail where each user prompt that influences the ending is also reflected on the screen (see the cocoons). This is very good game design, because I didn't read the description, so I expected 2 endings, but seeing the actual visual feedback made me realise I forgot a combination: what if I did not go full-out with one direction?
Thank you! I definitely endeavored to give it that storybook-esque tone, and I'm happy that it seems to have been effective!
And I definitely wanted to provide at least some kind of visual feedback, even for such a small number of options!
This is so beautiful, both in terms of the story itself and the artwork :3 I definitely have a favourite end which made me 'aww' out loud, but I guess I better not describe it because of spoilers >.< I thought it was very sweet though, even if it was the complete opposite of what I chose on my first playthrough by picking what I would do personally.
It sort of gave me almost Deemo vibes in the sense that it was a fairytale featuring something which could seem somewhat sinister at first glance (if you're afraid of spiders, that is) but is actually very heartwarming and sincerely sweet!
What a kind and thoughtful comment! Thank you so much!
Stories like Charlotte's Web, James and the Giant Peach, and A Bug's Life had a big impact on my childhood, so I've always had a soft spot for creepy-crawlies. Especially our little eight-legged friends!
Aww, I adored Charlotte's Web and A Bug's Life too! James and the Giant Peach less so after my school made me make a giant peach all by myself for a parade out of Papier-mâché xD
But I'm a friend of the spiders as well :3 In our house, they're welcome to stay, unless they start building webs on things we regularly need to use, haha. And even then, we don't kill them, we just move them a little bit or put them outside. I currently have one residing in my window that likes to pop up in the day when I move my curtains x3 Sometimes it hangs out on my desk for a bit and then heads back. Now every time I see it, I'll be thinking of your game ^-^ and those moments when it appears will seem a bit more magical!
Oh no! That's so unfortunate!
In our household I'm the resident spider relocator, haha. If I'm the one that sees them I usually just leave them be, though (don't tell everyone else!)
And I'm truly flattered that you'll be thinking of this game whenever your little friend comes to visit! These comments have truly brightened my days!
(Tim) This makes for quite an effective fairy tale! It kind of reminds me of looking up different versions of traditional stories and imagine what-ifs.
There are essentially two main endings, and each of them works fairly well as a standalone story. I think I prefer the "pacifist" ending more than the other one, but both have a lot of merit.
I hope to see more work in this style! The music and art direction really came together in this one.
Thank you! My preference usually leans more towards character driven narratives, but I wanted to try something more whimsical and reminiscent of a classic fairy tale for this jam. I'm not sure if I'll go back to this style but who knows what the future holds!
This game is super cute, I loved the mood. The story, the art, the music... It all works together!
Thank you very much! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
This is the most adorable spooky fable I've read in a while! Sweet story, cute artstyle that befits the subject matter, and the choices add a fun little wrinkle to the story!
I would pair this entry with a thimbleful of aquavit!
I'm so glad you enjoyed it! Thank you so much!
