Edit: had technical issues because I was using my mouse. I'll now play the game and edit this to leave more feedback once I'm done!

For everyone else: if the mouse doesn't work for you as well, the keyboard might.

Edit for feedback:

The art style is cute and consistent, while the "monsters" (trying not to spoil here) in the final school scene had really creepy vibes.

The labyrinth minigame was cool. At first I didn't understand that there was a gravity mechanic going on, but that made it much cooler than just a standard labyrinth.

I couldn't use my windows key to tab out of the game and write this feedback as I went along, instead using the task manager to get out of there every time. This was also an issue when I first started the game and the music blasted me through my headphones with no quick way to turn it down. Since I think you'll continue working on this game after the jam, maybe you could add audio options and enable returning to desktop :D

Oh, and mouse support would also be nice, unless that just didn't work on my end!

Prof. Zemlinksy was my favorite character. He was hilariously silly :)

I really enjoyed the chase scene towards the end. It was just the right length to not be super frustrating, while being complex enough to take some time to solve (at least for me). The mini games on the other hand were easy to complete, which is good, since the focus is on the story and not on grinding through almost impossible games. Overall, I think the level of challenge was great.

Good job on this project. While it was short, it looks like you put your time into a high quality experience instead. Good luck with the future of this story!

Hello! Wow, that was a *very* thorough feedback, thanks a million! I really appreciate a lot that you went out of your way to take all these notes!

At the moment, the game has basically no mouse input, it's keyboard-only : I would've liked to have both but I found myself lacking time to implement them in a non-glitchy way, though I'll try to make it so there's the option to use the mouse instead of the keyboard for the final version!
Features such as volume sliders (and, most certainly, a lower "entry point" volume) and other quality of life improvements are 100% planned as well for the full release - I'll also give some thought about a way to properly handle the alt-tab situation you mentioned!

Otherwise, I'm very grateful for your kind words, I hope you'll enjoy the full release as much as Chapter 1!

Yeah, no worries. Since this was a jam, I think everyone understands that there just wasn't a whole lot of time, so everyone has to cut features. Better to have no mouse support than glitchy mouse support for sure!

I'm glad that the feedback was helpful :)

I liked the art direction, and the tone of the story was definitely a highlight for me. Hope to see more and best wishes!

Thank you for the words of encouragement! I'm happy you had a nice time!

Definitely got a few chuckles out of me x3 Namely from being sassy towards Trev, and the response from the ol' prof when given the option to ask him if he's high when solving riddles xD I won't say the line cos of spoilers, but it made me laugh, haha.

The little games were pretty fun too, but I got stuck cos I suck xD I guess I should put it as spoilers!

SPOILERS

So, once the spookums turned up at night after trying to remove my pumpkin of a face, I gave it a few goes but I couldn't figure out the correct combination to get away >.< haha. I got what felt like quite far in with having choices eventually pop up that said 'We will mess you up' but then I forgot how I got to that point because my short term memory is a pile of crap xD

Hi! I'm happy you had a good time overall - and oh no!! I'm sorry to hear you got stuck!
Have you taken a the Readme that comes with the game folder? I thought that section might be a little confusing to some people so I added the solution for it there, if you ever feel like coming back and finishing the game!

I'll work on making this section easier to navigate for the game's full release, that's for sure!
At any rate, thanks for trying PF and for the kind feedback!

Well, now I feel silly xD Darn it >.< I almost always read the readme and other text documents that come with games but that just completely slipped my mind since I started playing Spooktober ones! Haha. Much appreciated that you decided to put help in there :3 If only I had checked that before writing my comment xD I shall definitely be making sure to actually complete the chapter!

Super chill story, FANTASTIC illustrations, cute gameplay - I can't wait to read Chapter two!

I would pair this Spooktober entry with an Apple & Ginger Wine Spritzer!

Thanks a lot Vimi!! I have absolutely no idea what an Apple & Ginger Wine Spritzer even is but I'll be doing some research!
