Because of how the characters bounce when you go to the next line of dialogue I wanted to hit the enter button on the beat to the track because the background music is such a bop haha

Really nice polish overall! The blinking animation, the CGs, the old school OS was so nostalgic too. Loved this ^^

I got hooked right after the second night when we discovered and played the computer game. The characters in the mini-game are so fun. I really enjoyed this game (I wrote this whole comment while I was playing, so it might sound a bit disjointed haha). Kitties make everything better. I got the "Cat Lady" ending first run through~

I encountered a couple bugs; I landed on a choice in the over-world (when they're in the gym) and opened the menu. When I pressed [esc] it crashed the game and I had to restart it. The other bug was when I tried to go for the other ending; when Kimi goes up the stairs by herself the game freezes with her at the top of the stairs and I'm able to open the menu and load screen but I can't get her to move anywhere. I let it sit on that screen for a while too, pressed all the buttons, and nothing changed.

Aw, thanks for your kind words. Ngl I also tried to make them bounce with the music in my first playthrough XD

The bug of Kimi being stuck on the third floor has been fixed, I suggest downloading the latest version! We have fixed the bug in it

But about the bug in the gym, we'll have a look here and see if we can fix it asap. Thanks for letting us know!

AMAZING GAME!! Love the characters and everything about the story and how it develops, LOVE THE PIXEL GAME PARTS, so sad I couldn't see much of edgy and karate boys 😔HAHAHA
AND I LOVE THE LITTE ANIMATIONS GOING ON, the arts in general are a master piece as always 💖

The use of RPGMaker is impressive, especially for the "gameception" that occurs later on. It was innovative, especially in regards the "glitchy" effects and the distorted OSTs t6hat appear later.

The premise is unique, with the symbolism with the video game cleverly implemented. There's also the mystery of Mei's condition that is given just enough context for us to grasp her plight. Not everything needs an explanation, especially when the quotes and game symbolism fill in all the holes.

The point-and-click segments, while innovative, felt tacked on as well as the choices we were given. A lot of the interactions amounted to "oh, this isn't what I want" and vice versa. Now I only played this once and got the "Little Bird" ending so I imagine the choices do have merit. But at the same time I believe that they could've been implemented earlier and possibly even given more purpose in the game. But again, the scope presented to us by the game itself, especially in regards to the one-month time limit are more than enough to make up for these nuisances.

Best of luck in the jam!

Thanks for your feedback!

We decided to implement choices in Mei's storyline only after she played the game as a way to symbolize how it was affecting her mind, same as the glitches that appear later on.

There's choices that do add extra scenes and dialogues so I suggest giving a try on the other ending. But as you said because of the deadline we couldn't expand the game as much as we wanted to, but we're still happy to hear that you enjoyed the dynamics that were implemented 😁

This is lovely. The palette with its soft morning-light colors is beautiful. I love that the protagonist is disabled, and it captures her struggles and frustrations in a very sensitive and realistic way. A really moving experience overall. (One thing I would have liked is mouse controls, particularly for the interactive areas.)

Developer

Thanks for your feedback!

About the mouse controls, we were experiencing some bugs with it so we decided to remove it just so we were sure the game would run. But we plan to make some tests and hopefully add it back in a future update 😁

The scope is super impressive given the spooktober timeframe - super well done! The character art is also really great throughout, and the game-within-a-game aspect when booting up "Your Love" is fun. Great to see thoughtful representation of folks who use wheelchairs in this genre!

It's quite an interesting game, I loved the change in gameplay when Mei played on her computer at night.

The graphics and story are very well done, I didn't understand why in the ending that I got Mei went to take a bus? where was she going? was she going to see her cousin? did she plan to return to her mother's house? Maybe it's my fault that I got a little confused.

Loved the game :)

Developer

Hi thanks for playing the game, glad to hear you had fun!

Spoilers:

___________________

You got the little bird ending, in that end it's not actually Mei, it's Kimi! They changed bodies and Mei is stuck in the game. Kimi took a bus to run away from home so she could finally experience what it was like to be free (away from people who could soon find out she wasn't Mei and force her to go back to the game)

This was really neat :3 The character designs are adorable, especially Mei's (but I love all of them!) The blinking eyes are a nice touch. I'm always jealous of anything like that in VNs cos I wish I could do it myself, haha. Speaking of which, I'm also always a little jealous of VNs made with RPGmaker! They always just seem to have that extra layer of depth to them with being able to have the option to physically move characters around a space. I even have MV on Steam, but I've never opened it because it looks so complicated and terrifies me x3

I'm a big fan of the game in a game concept, so that was awesome! But what surprised me even more was how much Mei's experience in school hit me. Our circumstances aren't the same, but I do remember what it was like to feel lost and alone during my school years. They were some of the worst years of my life >.< When I was a kid, I never knew why I had no friends. Just that I was different, and an outsider always looking in, excluded from everything. I wasn't bullied, and it's not like people disliked me. More that I was just invisible >.< I didn't find out until adult life that I have autism, and that was probably the cause of a lot of my social problems in life.

Like Mei, I used to come home from school and throw myself into video games (Final Fantasy X a lot of the time x3) because it was the perfect form of escapism. In those fantasy worlds, I could actually be someone, and life meant something. So yeah, the sorta stuff she was going through really resonated with me on a deep level that I wasn't expecting when I started playing! (In a good way :3) Our school did have a kind of leavers prom as well. I didn't go, haha. I stayed home and played video games xD

I don't wanna write any spoilers, but I got the little bird ending on my first go! Thanks so much for the guide by the way. That'll make it easier to get the other ending, much appreciated, and awesome job all round <3

Mei is such a special character for me as well so I'm glad to hear that you like her  as much as I do ^^

Thank you so much for your comment!

I love this! A game inside a game! Super cool and it spooks me too! I screamed "Oh My God!!! Something isn't right!!! OMG! AAAAAAAAAAA!!!" the whole time I played it (because I'm a scaredy-cat) but I was still able to play it until I got the Cat Lady ending because I was so curious and the story really suck me in wwww

The story is seriously very nice,  though I was hoping about dating the boys (or the glasses girl herself tbh she is my first on the list) but nvm I like that move you pull there, really spook me :')

Aw, thank you sm for your comment! We're happy to hear that you had a good time, even if you were spooked 🤭

I adored the art style and the dialogue feels very natural. The story was interesting and entertaining, my only criticism would be that scenes tend to drag on a little too long. Overall an enjoyable game.
